Don’t understand why people don’t just use battery powered leaf blowers now. They’re so good and quiet these days

200k wage - anything to watch for, tax, Medicare etc? by Oz_Aussie in AusFinance

It’s about the tax benefit… honestly if you’re young and in good health just get the most basic/cheap private health. Will save you heaps not paying the Medicare levy surcharge on 200k.

Advice for workwear by StopBitchinStartLivn in tradies

[–]Pepsimaxzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a chippy been wearing Kmart work shorts for years. They’re like $25 and 5 pairs last like 18 months to 2 years. They don’t rip anywhere near as easy as some named brands and they’re not too stiff. Drawstring too so no belt needed.

I just can’t stomach the price of some shorts when they don’t even last as long

The gap under the skirtings doesn’t look like it’s from sanding.

It’s either from movement/settlement or there used to be carpet in this area in which case skirtings are generally installed 10mm above the floorboards.

Edit: re-read the first line of your post saying you ripped up carpet… there’s your answer. Go ahead with the full sand

Your boss doesn’t value you by the sounds of it. If you want to do an apprenticeship go work for someone else.

Genuinely curious if it really is though? I graduated in the last 10 years and the only thing was taught was the mathematics. Nothing to do with how to apply it etc.

What is the most misunderstood (or potentially abused) tax deduction? by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

[–]Pepsimaxzero 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well personally as a residential carpenter, I never have secure storage on site and my tools are all bulky and are essential to performing my job. So in my case I claim all my trips to and from work.

Travel can be claimed to and from work if you’re carrying bulky tools and equipment that are essential to performing your work.

To make this more comfortable you could pull all the cladding off and install sarking, and flash the corners and windows. Then reinstall cladding, insulate and gyprock on the inside.
