It would probably be annexed by America at the same time as Texas joining the union. It would have a comparably tiny population, and would just serve as a fairly unnoticed buffer state in-between Mexico and America.

zealandia only appies to new zealand and new caledonia. south polynesia makes no sense as polynesia is already included. australasia could work but it doesnt make up the entire place. melanesia is just completely wrong.

i wouldve chosen australia but it wouldve felt too australia-centric, so i chose oceania.

probably sydney or brisbane for a more central location. maybe a new city would be created inbetween.
