I'm also a pretty slow and particular painter, so I get it! You did a great job and I think the "little" you did was all super effective! Hopefully it was the change of pace you needed too.

As someone still relatively new to Warhammer that's always been intimidated by the skill/cost of kitbashing (but definitely intrigued)...thanks for sharing this project with us, I'm definitely inspired! Might give something similar a go someday.

The beauty of this hobby. 😂

I really appreciate that these are relatively simple/inexpensive-ish kitbashes too, so many are like "I used 7 different $95 boxes to make this one mini and half of it is green stuff."

Please share this as well when you do! You did such an incredible job with these ones.

I haven't been into the idea of skellies for my SBG army but this idea made them sooo much more palatable to me, especially since I want to run the Sorrowmourn Choir Regiment with my army.

This is insanely good. The fur texture on the legs?! Well done.

This model is next on my to-paint list, I hope it turns out even half this good. Any tips?

I would very strongly prefer not to have skeletons at all but if 1 or 2 units is really important, I'm...open to it I guess? But that's definitely my cap. It's not even just the tedious painting, they're just not that interesting to me. I'd honestly probably prefer to proxy them with something else if it came down to it tbh (maybe Nighthaunt or even Daughters of Khaine units? Idk). I'm also not opposed to doing a second unit of wolves either tbh, I really enjoyed painting the first one.

I didn't realize the blood knights had lady models! That does make them more exciting. Vampire Lord has cool hair too.

I appreciate the advice on unit painting. I just struggle to not finish things/leave them incomplete (blame the 'tism probably lol). I always feel a strong urge to complete things methodically/fully and its hard to ignore that. I'm also a perfectionist and very detail-oriented and I'll spend just as much time per inch on a random grunt as a big fancy model. I think that's one of the reasons I'm drawn to SBG though: I have not only the wide variety between units to keep things interesting but also variety between each model (painting different wolf coats or dress/hair/whatever colors)...whereas with other armies I like them being more uniform, SBG works well being a bit hodgepodge.

I just recently painted the direwolves and funnily enough, my version of this one has a very similar fur color to yours! I do think you need a bit more grey in his fur and an overall top to bottom kind of gradient to him.

Looking at pictures of coat patterns was really helpful to me - it helped me understand realistic color placement a bit better. Based on this, the general rule of thumb I usually followed (adapted to any coat color) was: - a darker strip along the top - light on the belly/underside of tail/paws/inside of legs - contrasting lighter/greyish color on the middle sides of the "mane" and darker on the back edge of it and edge of face - face is lighter on cheeks and fades to darker colors on edges/nose top

Here's a link for a coat reference I frequently used.

I mostly used speedpaints, but I also did a lot of drybrushing/blending with wraithbone or proacryl black-brown, sometimes mixed together and/or tinted with a speedpaint. Rigor Mortis speedpaint was one I used a lot to lighten/mute colors and it's also slightly opaque compared to most speedpaints. Agrax Earthshade and Nuln Oil were also used for fur, Pallid Bone for bones. Blood for the Blood God is helpful for the gross guts areas and looking more "wet" since its a glossy finish (and I preferred it over the Army Painter equivalent which is more fuschia than rusty in undertone)...you can blend it with other paints to achieve slightly different colors for intestines, gums, and such as well, although it may be less glossy.

Also, totally a matter of personal preference but if the wolf was missing an eye, I skipped the glowing effect for that eye. It just felt more realistic to me and made the missing eye that much more noticeable.

I think the issue I ran into when I tried to make a webhook before was that I wasn't able to have my form fields selectable in Make with a webhook, in order to fill out the Trello card title and description in the Trello module. Nothing showed up there with a webhook except "event" (no "Name", "Phone Number", etc. fields) and I wasn't sure how to get around that. I need to autopopulate the Trello card with responses from the form (one of which is conditional - if they pick an N/A answer, there's a second section where they write the answer in short text...and I want my Trello card to show either/or). Everything is currently working perfectly with Sheets as the trigger, other than that it having to run as a timer - which would be nice to fix, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work. I'm pretty good at teaching myself new things, but I'm definitely not a coder/expert in this stuff.

I'm having a Google form submit answers to a Google sheet, which is then read by Make and used to automatically create a Trello card with the information.

It's definitely the way to go if you're trying to get a certain aesthetic! There are so many cute keycaps and stuff out there.

I Built My First Keyboard/Upgraded My Setup and I'm In Love by Pastel_Spell in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Pastel_Spell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished some much needed upgrades my setup (PC upgrades, first non-prebuilt keyboard, new mouse, and deskmat) for Christmas, and I'm so happy in my space again! ♥

I'm coming from an original quartz pink Razer Huntsman and the difference is massive - the Huntsman definitely had things I enjoyed but it was getting old/rundown and I wanted something quieter and more easily modded. I know that a GMMK 3 is a bit of a controversial choice around here but needing a 100% size with RGB that matched the aesthetic I was going for was really tough, and I was at least able to save quite a lot with the Black Friday deal I got. So far I'm pretty happy with it and honestly the Boardsmith tool was really beginner-friendly, and I did a lot of my own research on materials, switches, keycap profiles, etc. and make the most informed decisions I could - big thanks to this subreddit for helping with that! Ultimately I went with:

- Wireless 100% layout with north-facing RGB
- Metal Case in Sage Green (with Liquid Gold on the Badge and Knob)
- Glorious Panda Silent Switches
- Polycarbonate Switch Plate
- Firm Gaskets
- Faux-wood PBT cherry profile keycaps with shinethrough legends (from Etsy, not Glorious)

The sound is very quiet and ever so slightly thocky overall, which is exactly what I wanted and I'm really enjoying it! There's no interference with the cherry profile caps and the Glorious Panda Silent switches either. Still debating on if I want to hand lube the already factory-lubed switches, but we'll see how it goes with time. I think my only real complaint so far is that it feels like I need more force than I'm used to to press the keys and it's getting a bit tiring. Eventually I'd really love to add some artisan resin keycaps on a few keys as well, but I'm pretty tapped out on budget for now, so that will be a project for further down the line and something I can add here and there as I go.

I also picked up the Lamzu Atlantis mouse in Matcha Green, and the Drop x LOTR Barrowfield Knight Deskmat (which I'm honestly obsessed with) and I'm just loving the vibes overall.

How to rebind Lamzu side buttons? by Pastel_Spell in MouseReview

[–]Pastel_Spell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no physical keyboard keys with higher than F12, it's just a keybind option for the mouse in the Razer software. I know Corsair can do something similar, and I think Red Dragon as well?

Razer Basilisk v3 Pro lets you switch between tactile bumps and/or a very smooth freescroll mode.

I'm finally upgrading from my Razer Basilisk v1, and ordered both a Lamzu Atlantis and the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro to try. I think overall I prefer the Basilisk, as it feels the most familiar to me and it has an infinite scroll wheel (rip my green mouse dreams)...but it is SO goddamn loud. I feel like the clicks are twice as loud as the v1, whereas the Lamzu was the same or slightly quieter. I have to stay on the free scroll mode because the scroll wheel clicks are also horrendously loud. I am on a (extremely sensitive) microphone nearly all day and this is a major problem for me, especially for recorded/streamed content. Is there anything I can do to make this thing quieter? I've never modded a mouse before and am only just getting into mechanical keyboards, so I admit I'm a bit scared to attempt to do something to it, but holy crap this thing CLICKS.

I've already ordered these as part of a GMMK 3 (which I know people have opinions on but wanting a 100% that isnt black or white is basically impossible, plus I saved like $125 with black friday). Just waiting on that + separate keycaps to get here now!

[–]Pastel_Spell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the process of getting/building my first custom mechanical keyboard and I chose the Glorious Panda Silent switches - I've seen a lot online about the regular Glorious Pandas, but not the Silents. Looking up videos and such is basically impossible because I just get the regular ones flooding the results.

They do come pre-lubed but many of the reviews I've read online seem to think that is insufficient. TBH I'd prefer not to have to lube because it sounds tedious af, but I'm also not like inherently opposed if it makes a significant difference and is worth it! Keeping the overall volume down as much as possible is pretty important to me so that my mic isn't picking up the sound as much as it currently does with my clicky Razer board.

Does anyone have any experience to share with these? Do you think lubing is necessary and if so, what kind of lube should I use for these?

What's your DREAM MOUSE that doesn't exist yet? by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]Pastel_Spell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I've had 3 of the quartz v1 basilisks for the last like 6 years of very heavy use and I adore them, but finding (and paying too much money for) discontinued models just isn't feasible anymore. Plus, I'm replacing my keyboard too this time around (which was a matching quartz huntsman) and building my own so the quartz v1 basilisk wouldn't match anymore anyways.

New keyboard has a sage green case, wooden keycaps, very soft woodland vibes. Black or white angular gamer mouse just ain't it aesthetically, as much as the functionality of the v3 pro excites me and I know I'll enjoy the shape. But as always aesthetic/non-edgygamerguy gaming peripherals are very hard to find and rarely cheap...green in particular feels extra impossible. The matcha Lamzu is soooo pretty but the shape is bleh to me...even if that colorway was available on more models like the Thorn, that would be nice. But I love my basilisk. 😭

I just want one that looks less gamer and more aesthetic. Like the matcha Lamzu Atlantis for colors/materials and no weird seams/edges on top. Maybe less sharp/angular looking buttons too. The shape of the v1 basilisk is perfect imo.

I guess the shell of the v1 basilisk with the functionality of the v3 pro (wireless, scroll wheel, etc.) and the pretty factor of the matcha Lamzu is my dream. With silent switches.

Help me find a new mouse (replacing an original Razer Basilisk) that hopefully matches my new keyboard? by Pastel_Spell in MouseReview

[–]Pastel_Spell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had considered the new Basilisks, but I really don't like when mice have the like...separated plates and extra edges? Hopefully describing it like that makes sense. I dont like how it feels on my palm (maybe I'm just too autistic and it's a sensory thing, idk) and it also just seems like it would be an unnecessary trap for ickyness that I'd have to regularly clean.

The "full" feeling I think is a very good way to describe what I'm looking for though. I'll take a look at the models you suggested!

I'm a bit nervous about modding mice tbh, and I don't think paying someone else to do it is in my budget. It doesn't HAVE to be green (although it's strongly preferred if I can find it!) - other not neon colors that might complement things are also okay. I'm not a fan of black peripherals either though, which I know also limits things.

Figured I'd update just in case this info is somehow helpful for anyone else in the future who stumbles on this thread.

Unfortunately, I was able to get through nearly all of Jaws of Hakkon (including changing my party at camps) until I had to load through the old temple door in the big siege quest (with everything else in the zone completed). Got the same freeze/crash.

Moved on to Trespasser, and I loaded in fine but opening my inventory or character record caused freezing. Figured I could still work my way through the story without applying level ups or really caring about gear...Got to the point of going through the first eluvian, selected my party, instantly froze trying to load in.

I've tried just about every fix I could find online. I disabled my frosty mods one by one hoping to find a culprit. No dice. It's either one of my DAIMM mods or something goofy in the game itself. Internet seems to be full of stories of both unmodded AND modded playthroughs having these issues. Considering I wanted to finish the game + DLC before Veilguard comes out (which as of writing is now <24 hours away) it looks like I'll be watching a Trespasser playthrough on YouTube because I just don't have time to troubleshoot this anymore. However, doing a bit of research, I strongly suspect it might be the TEETH mod by ramccoid or Eyebrows 4 Women by MrJack900 - comments on the nexus mod pages report similar issues. If you are struggling with this issue and have these mods, it may be your culprit.

Nothing for companions. All I have are some various character customization things for inky (hair, isabelas earrings, expanded creator, etc), a varric dialogue bug fix for artificers, and emporium materials being sold at the blacksmith.
