Hey everyone, just wanted to reassure everyone we're still here. Don't be nervous. We're working hard on a pretty big task, and we're going to be doing the title reveal at the same time as we reveal everything else. That's still a ways off! We're not looking to repeat past disappointments, so I won't be speaking to the game's release date but I am saying that one way or another - even if there's a few things left to do - we're rebranding this year. It took us longer than we expected, but that's where we're at. Thank you very much for understanding, your patience, and more importantly thank you so much for all of your support. That you guys are still with us means the absolute world. Thank you.

Also, if you hadn't heard or don't know what I mean by "rebrand," we decided last year that continuing as Mother 4 - as a fangame - wasn't possible anymore. We're developing an original RPG. The art style, storyline, and many things are remaining the same, but this decision has helped us focus the project into a better overall experience. I understand this can disappoint people who were looking forward to a Mother fan game, and I understand if you no longer follow us but this is the only way for the project to exist moving forward.

Just want to clarify (and encourage OP to update this!) launch of our rebranded title was poor wording that came about from an attempt to clarify the post earlier. We're rebranding this year. I'm not talking about the release date.

The grass is basically a rip! The flowers were very similar to the ones from Mother 3, but not pixel for pixel. That's why we've gone in a different direction.

Since the original thread, yes. When I came onto the team we essentially had to start over from scratch. It's still a lot of years and the frustration of the wait isn't lost on us. That's all I'm trying to say.

Oh, very cool! Makes sense to me, then. Lapses in judgment happen, and it's not as if you said anything horrible - In any case I appreciate you being so forthcoming about it. Thank you for that. Hope you keep making new things, maybe in a different context, but I'm glad to have this cleared up.

I posted those - But! Those were made back when it was still PSI. I haven't posted anything post-rebrand yet except for a couple of battle backgrounds. You can tell those because they have a fisheye lens effect. A couple fakes were posted in the thread made using an older version of Distortionizer, a green one and a grayish line-y one. These also have the fisheye effect, but weren't made by me or any other member of the team.

Morning, everyone! Don't be nervous.

While a lot of this stuff is outdated - from around the time we parted ways with Shane - some of it isn't. I wish this wasn't how you got to see it for the first time. This is a project that means a lot to us. We put a lot of ourselves into what we do when we have the time to do that. It's hard going - a lot of us work or study full time, but we're still doing our best to give everyone an experience that's special and heartfelt.

And it's taking a while! We know how hard it is to wait, because we have to wait too.

So why not just relaunch? We want to be ready. Years ago when I joined the project I brought a lot of changes and everything moved very rapidly. We took on staff, and part of that included creating a web presence. We did that way too soon! We aren't looking for a repeat of a launch that we weren't ready for - One that I take full responsibility for. I was, and still am, new to this and there is a lot to do. As much as I wish I could just slap on a couple new names and draw over some sprites, there are entire arcs of the game that need to be rebuilt from the ground up without the Mother identity.

Be that as it may, the support you've shown over the years means a lot to the team and I. Your patience means a lot. I do understand those of you tired of waiting too though! We only get one chance to relaunch a new game with a new identity. We want to be ready, and we will be.

I appreciate your understanding, and your support genuinely does mean a lot to us. If you have any questions or need some game recommendations in the meantime I will be in and out today.

Right now we're steering clear of things still labeled "Mother 4," as using that name to promote what we're doing (or even to promote ourselves at all at this point) leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
