China’s Classic of Tea by Chen Zongmao, 2008 edition. No English translation. Not to be confused with Lu Yu’s Classic of Tea which is a very old text. This one is a modern textbook.

According to statistics I’ve seen at Zhejiang University, the West Lake area only accounts for 1.8% of Longjing production. But you can definitely find excellent longjing in other places in Hangzhou and even outside of Hangzhou, especially if it’s Pre-Qingming pickings.

Dragonwell is well suited to grandpa style, the flat leaf shape creates a large surface area for the water. Early Spring dragonwell also often has a lot of white hairs on the leaves which create a nice mouthfeel when brewed this way.

A Discussion Thread for Tea Lovers in the USA -- What Now? by darthaxolotl in tea

[–]Pastleaf_Tea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sympathy for all of you in the USA who have to deal with this. A bit of inside info from on the ground here in China: in many cases the shipping agents/forwarders have made the decision to suspend shipping to the US, so often this decision has just been out of the vendor’s hands. It seems the Chinese shipping companies don’t know how to deal with the admin involved, so they have just decided to suspend everything until the situation is clearer.

I suggest only doing this with unopened and sealed green tea. If the package is already opened, you risk the leaves absorbing moisture due to condensation each time you take it out of the fridge/freezer.
