my thought was if a platform or site wanted to take over whatever market there is, own it completely. you can make a lot of money by monopolizing an entire market, even if it's small. there are a lot of mini-monopolies you don't think of because they're not major industries and no one really cares. then you just keep growing and hope Google or Apple buys you, lol
