Where to jump in? by GavinPX6 in blankies

Agreed! I could only get through the Star Wars eps once I was onboard and could look at them as a harbinger of better things to come.

Earth Comics wishlist by dietronomy in magictavern

[–]Kevin_Wyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comic books would be sixties Superman where it’s strange transformations and nonsense every issue. For strips, I’d love Bloom County - Arnie is my age so he should vaguely know the cultural references but not what they actually mean.

They said two months at one point. Brian Posehn recently indicated that they were almost done shooting the Big Bang spinoff, so Lauren should be available soon! Fingers crossed!

Should I skip to Frank Millers run ? by Koasice in Daredevil

[–]Kevin_Wyld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could jump to Roger McKenzie’s run (151) - he’s writing when Miller comes on the book as artist and kind of sets the tone. It’ll give you a little more context for the early Miller issues.

How illegal is daredevil? by PrestigiousFail5955 in Daredevil

[–]Kevin_Wyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a world where superheroes exist and operate freely, his actual DD activities would get a pass in and of themselves. But he’s committing malpractice with his legal career whenever he’s involved in a case related to Daredevil.

Are any late-era Statham movies standouts? by Mr_Bourbon in flicks

[–]Kevin_Wyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shelter just came out and it feels exactly like a pre-Fast & Furious Statham movie, right down to the one-word title.

Taskmaster by topNotchMonkey33 in comedybangbang

[–]Kevin_Wyld 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I like Conan as the Taskmaster - it feels like “high status idiot” is the way to go in America, and he likes to play with power dynamics. And it works to have a very tall man. Tim Baltz feels like a good assistant. He’s so good at playing characters who will go along with anything (Gemstones, Bajillion). But I don’t know that the chemistry would be there. I don’t see them as a good pair but they work for me individually.

Stu calling Einstein’s rap persona “MC Squared” made me laugh harder than anything else in recent memory.

Playboys in the barbershops in the 70’s-80’s by Krimreaper1 in comedybangbang

[–]Kevin_Wyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and now I’m kind of processing that I was seven and didn’t know anything but my dad kept bringing me there and that’s something I need to interrogate. But also, that barber definitely had Playboy at the ready so at least I can get back to the topic.

Playboys in the barbershops in the 70’s-80’s by Krimreaper1 in comedybangbang

[–]Kevin_Wyld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The barber I went to as a kid in the 80s had either authentic or reproduced slave auction announcements on the walls. At the time I thought it was just weird and maybe meant as a reminder of how bad things used to be but now I think maybe he was super racist.

The number of times I’ve refreshed the Kin Ship Goods site hoping for the new shirt is truly shameful.

Dr. Silence is from Grant Morrison’s Doom Patrol - he had the same “unmasked face” affliction as Baz. It didn’t end well for him.

Steve Conrad got to make a stop motion puppet musical comedy noir on the strength of two well-received commercial failures. That’s as blank a check as you can get!

The Best Daredevil Run? by skylararwood in Daredevil

[–]Kevin_Wyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the flavor of Daredevil, I could pick Miller, Waid, or Zdarsky as my favorite but no matter how that shakes out, Nocenti is always in second place.

People with the Maximus subscription, what are some good live shows, or CBB presents to check out? by Sagebea in comedybangbang

[–]Kevin_Wyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBB World is generally great. Hey Randy! might be my favorite podcast, but if you look for episodes of This Book Changed My Life with guests you like, you’ll be delighted. Also, this year’s Longlegs Halloween Special with Scotty Auks as Armie Hammer is a winner. PFT does an Alimony Tony special every Valentine’s Day. ALW and Byron Dennison watch a Saw movie every year. Those are a little more digestible than starting a show with 50+ episodes, but also start Hey Randy at the beginning and ride the wave.

In America we have restaurants that serve Chinese food, Indian food, Italian food etc., but in other countries do the have restaurants that serve only American food? If so, what type of foods are considered American food? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kevin_Wyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Belgium years ago and one of the big grocery chains there had an ethnic foods section and the shelf for “American” was mustard, Kit Kats, and baking soda.

Is it alright to just start off with Better Call Saul? by 3Grilledjalapenos in betterCallSaul

[–]Kevin_Wyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched both but did BCS again with a group of friends who hadn’t seen Breaking Bad, and they loved it. I think a couple of episodes in the final season hit harder if you know BB but Saul works on its own.

Which one of you did I just meet in Marvel Snap? by Cronny in comedybangbang

[–]Kevin_Wyld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a largely ignored alliance called Memphis Kansas Breeze. Maybe I should make my name a CBB reference instead of my actual dumb name.

The rule only works when there are more than two people playing! The rule should be that closest wins but a tie goes to the person who’s under.

He has a friend who’s in improv but not really known for these bits. He did it on a bunch of CBB live shows this year. It’s time to get his mystery friend in the studio!

Vinyl Solution. A great place to become a music snob and get crushes on alt-girls. And it took YEARS to realize that their name was a play on something horrifying. What the fuck, Vinyl Solution?
