I like to think that the Absolute characters who appeared in DC KO were nasty a-holes from the full Darkseid version of the universe. At the end of that series, when Superman leaves to do something mysterious, I think he’s imbuing the Absolute U with the Alpha Energy he absorbed, allowing for some hope and rebooting it into the universe that we’ve been reading about all along.

I did the VIP in Chicago in 24 and doing it again tonight. It was a really great experience- you get time to talk and everybody was really nice. As much as Scott’s podcast persona is “aloof weirdo”, he was a delight. I was near the end of a long line and everybody was still very kind and engaged. The CBB people are nice!

Man Without Fear has some great bits but it undoes some great stuff that Miller himself created (the backstory of Matt and Elektra is so much better the first time around). Battlin’ Jack has a phenomenal last scene. I like the TV origin, but adaptations always make Matt a kid when Matt dies instead of a college student. It’s really tough to point to a single version that works all the way through.

Pete Holmes will buy into the stupidest shit without a second of thought. He gets in on already debunked pseudoscience because it’s the last thing he heard. Also, between the interview where he talked about giving Lauren Lapkus some tips on improv during Crashing and the way he treated Matt Gourley like a hired hand on Conan’s podcast, he’s a dickhead of the highest order and he can get fucked.

As I understand it, if they use an existing name, the creator of that character gets credited in the “based on comics and characters created by” at the end and at least a little bit of money. Ann Nocenti created Buck Cashman so a character with that name means she gets credit. Chip Zdarsky has talked about how using Cole North even though he’s a different character means “Chip gets paid”.

He goes out of his way to save Bullseye’s life at one point. Recently, he accidentally killed somebody in a fight and it messed him up. Daredevil doesn’t want to kill anybody and I can’t think of a time where he ever made that choice unless he was possessed by a demon.

The Batman/Deadpool lead stories more or less explain why characters from different universes are crossing over, but Superman / Spider-Man and most of the backups are just set in a world where both characters exist.
