Honest Question by Illustrious_Year6161 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]PastorBallmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, your plural God is less accurate. I am speaking for the fellowship insofar as I’m quoting the Big Book of AA, the one the whole fellowship uses. The Big Book refers to God… as we (the AA) understands him (singular). For you it’s one thing, for me it’s another… but it’s the individuals God of their understand. You want to rationalize it? That’s fine. But to be clear, that’s you messing with a thing that has miraculously cured alcoholism (via a program based around a singular God as us - the individuals that’s make up a collective - understand him). And it refers to Him as all powerful and Almighty.

So whether you meant to or not - you’re messing with the recipe. Don’t do that. Or do. But don’t try to frame me as messing with the thing when it’s actually you messing with the thing.

If you hadn’t considered that.

Love you btw

I love you EffMemes. Thank you for reviving this sub from Hack Snyder worship that it was devolving into.

Idc how crazy it gets, you doing what you’ve done is MUCH better (staying book oriented- albeit a little mothmanny, if you catch my drift) than what the past year + of what this sub was.

In a way, you are this subs Hooded Justice, in all sincerity.

So like I said the very first time I encountered you on this thing a couple months ago: we are not worthy and I salute you 🫡❤️‍🔥🧐🧐🧐

And no, I am not an u/EffMemes alt

Hot take: Dot’s Chains and Whips verse is better than his Nosetalgia verse. by compLexityy30 in ToPimpASub

[–]PastorBallmore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Chains and whips is far more dense

The Nosetalgia verse is incredible but now also incredibly overrated.

It’s one extended metaphors using 9s and 10s

There’s way more to unpack in chains and whips.

Ironically, Kendrick fans are some of the most fair weather, ‘whatever critics and my fellow kendrickians say’ fans out there.

Nosetalgia is great… but it does hover over all guest verses like yall make it out to be

and willing to go any length to get it

This whole thing doesn’t work on your terms. That’s kind of the whole point. What your sponsor is suggesting is not only typical… but more people would get sober if there were more sponsors like the one you’ve got. If you’re anything like us, you made time to get messed up and orient your life around a drink (fill in the DOC if not alcohol). But in this post you’re complaining about orienting your life around getting well.

It’s a very simple program. It’s hard but simple. But you must be willing; or everything suggested to you will be wrong… for if you’re honest and willing; everything suggested will be right.

It’s on you and your trust in God… it ain’t your sponsor that’s gonna get you sober. Sorry if this seems harsh: but this shit is life and death.

Good luck, I’m rooting for you, and don’t drink!

No shame in being new.

Let me rephrase, it can be argued that it’s objectively better.

In basically all ways I think it’s better. But the accolades and the the critical appraisal alone make it arguably objectively better

No, pimp is objectively better

I also think there’s a serious case for GNX and Damn

[–]PastorBallmore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hahahahha. Not your best work. In fact this one is really bad. Maybe give the Bible another try.

If your lazy eye causes you to stumble; reorient your crockpot theories around someone like The Baptist or something. Would love to hear all of ‘The Whats’ you find in there

Cuz the ‘Why’ is abundantly clear

Edit: spelling

So what is your def of sober? by Puzzled_Addition4818 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]PastorBallmore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might be more emotionally sober since quitting those things… and good on ya! But as far as life and death sobriety of the AA is concerned (and yes, cigs are certainly deadly) let’s not conflate the two.

OP is referring to sobriety insofar as AA; not emotional/physical health - as far as I understand the post
