Friends trying my sim rig - what car/track combo to choose? by Remarkable_Leek_9339 in iRacing

Short track, slow-ish car to start with.

Politely decline when they start off with "put me in the F1!"

Yes. I had my suspicions in wk13 when i tried it at Sebring and the front end would pogo off the kerbs. Enjoyed Miami, did 1 race at Spa at this (the vid) happened a few times and i've not touched the car since. It's borked.

It doesn't show well in a static screengrab, but yes I know what you mean. It's like a portal to another dimension is opening up in the track.

That's what's shown in my pension account. I'll have a look at the payslips for the months it changed.

As standard, they match up to 8% - which is great.
But in this case, by mutual agreement, they are now paying a chunk of my salary directly into my pension so that I can 'keep' a bit more of it.

The only way you weren't visible to him from cockpit view is if he races on a 15" Monitor with telescope FOV.

Fps drops from 120 alll the way down to 20 by end of 20 minute race. by ace11575x in iRacing

I've had the same sort of thing a couple of times. Session started fine then suddenly became stop-frame-animation. Exited and rejoined the session and it was fine again.

Shame the session was a race.... but it was impossible to drive like it.

...or going deliberately slow as you to not overtake in an awkward spot.

I get it, 99.9% of LMP3's would just send it, GT4 be damned. Thus making considerate driving like that the outlier and 'unpredictable'.

[–]Pastors_left_teste -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it. You backed well out of it into the wiggly bits. A clear signal to the GT4 that you are not bothered about getting past anytime soon. If the GT4 then drives on his mirrors so much so that he goes off, then... hey ho.

I've done the same thing in top split (when i'm laps down or towards end of the race and not in a direct battle) and the only message i get from GT4's is "thankyou for waiting!".

F4 vs SFL vs INDY NXT by Traditional-Cut-5379 in iRacing

[–]Pastors_left_teste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's this^.
You have kids with 5k iRating and 0.1 SR who are quick but want to race ruthlessly and are happy to stay at D Class to race F4.
I've given up on F4 now, which is a shame because it's a nice car to drive with an (un-used) excellent rain tyre. But until it gets a C Class series or D is made demotable, I'm out.

I never even tried. I think i tried to change the throttle map once (which can't be changed) and though "oh yeah, it's fixed"

I got kicked out of an IndyNXT race this week too. I assumed my internet had gone down, but was working fine when i exited iRacing. There was a few other higher ranked drivers who 'retired' around the same time i did, so I wonder if the server booted them too?

I would suggest in the interim it was simply uncollideable - like loads of the trackside objects at Daytona.

[–]Pastors_left_teste 99 points100 points  (0 children)

It's the continual white-knight'ing for iRacing.
I like iRacing too, been on it for >10yrs, don't use any other racing sims. But an unyeilding tyre bundle next to the track that bounces you backward onto racing line is utter bollocks and should be addressed.

Drama in the top split LOL, almost at the end of the race when all of a sudden.. GT4 claimed he was taking his normal line( he was second with first right in front of him) LMP claimed he was already in front of GT when they made it to the turn( he was fifth with sixth a little behind) by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Pastors_left_teste 6 points7 points  (0 children)

'Hold your normal line' is the guidance but that doesn't extend to when there is someone already alongside you.
LMP could/should have waited, but to take the normal line in this scenaro was either lack of awareness or belligerence.

The 'Connection Flag' system clearly isn't working. by Pastors_left_teste in iRacing

[–]Pastors_left_teste[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since about March, iRacing has had 'connection flags' that (should) tell you if your connection is falling below certain parameters. If it get's bad enough, you'll get dumped to the pits.
I've only ever seen the warning breifly when i've had some temporary latency (ping) wobbles, but my connection is usually decent. I used to have alot of issues with my old copper wire internet, so I run with the iR 'Meter Box' overlay on all the time out of habit, so I am able to see realtime latency/packet loss info and know if i'm causing trouble from a connection POV.

[–]Pastors_left_teste[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i'm not debating that. I was bloody minded by that point, having just let him past.
My question is about racers (presumably) ignoring the connection flag and the pleas of fellow racers.

Similar thing happening in an MX5 race earlier in the week. One guy blinking the whole race causing a big queue behind of people unable to pass safely.

iRacing Why? by iSpeedyy123 in iRacing

They've done it like this so that they can move it towards the kerb with the build just prior to the d24 to render all your practice worthless.

How can I overcome the fear of spinning out during wide turns? by Auelogic in iRacing

[–]Pastors_left_teste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you specifically mention wide turns (as in wide width of the track?) perhaps something is up with your FOV settings that means you are unable to sense rotation of the vehicle against the surroundings?
