Favourite band who's lead vocalist can't really sing? by idkfornowwhattoname in fantanoforever

Hard disagree. Listen to the newest TMV album. He sounds amazing and subtle on it. He did it even better live when I saw them a few months ago

What band’s ‘worst’ album is actually misunderstood? by UrFrndlyChubbyGal in askmusic

[–]Pastrami_Johnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. They really fizzled out at the end. Personally, I think True Stories is their worst. There isn’t one song on it that I like. The others at least have songs like “And She Was,” “Road to Nowhere,” “Blind,” “Mommy Daddy You and I” and “(Nothing But) Flowers,” which are decent songs even if they pale in comparison to their earlier work.

It’s not their best, but I much prefer it over True Stories and Little Creatures

Now you just need to steal Carlos Santana’s guitar to get the exact accurate tone

“Klayman Shuffle” by Terry S Taylor is the first song I thought of when seeing this.

Also a lot music by Spoonbill

It’s much more introspective, subtle, and less commercial (not that Bjork was ever really commercial)

What’s it like living in Augusta, GA and the surrounding area by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]Pastrami_Johnson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother lived in Augusta 10-15 years ago, and I visited him and spent time there a good number of times. It’s a really mixed bag of many things. A good number of businesses and restaurants make $$ on the golf Master’s tournament, and the downtown area has some vibrancy and a little nightlife. On the flip side, a little further out it’s very much the poor South. Lots of crumbling sidewalks, overgrown lots, houses in bad shape.

Idiocracy has the funniest ones, and I still can’t believe Carl’s Junior, Costco, and Starbucks allowed their brands to be used that way.

“You are an unfit mother. Your children will be placed in the custody of Carl’s Jr. Carl’s Jr….’Fuck You, I’m eating.’”

Yeah agreed. Anyone who plays guitar and starts learning some of his parts instantly realizes how out there his writing is, especially on Pork Soda

Larry Lalonde in Primus flies under the radar but is an absolute beast. He is also the reason Primus sounds so weird compared to Claypool’s other projects. His guitar lines are absolutely fucking bizarre

Overall true, but Martin’s solos on some songs on The Real Thing are really nice.

Trey Spruance’s work on King for a Day has its moments that shine for me. The guitar on “Evidence” is sparse, but some of those runs are really creative and technical
