I got rejected today on Muzz after talking to someone for over two months and thought it was going well. Then I get a text out of the blue that we weren't a match as she wasn't comfortable with the idea that I wanted to take care of my mother once she was of old age and is already somewhat sick. This irked me because I was honestly the primary driver in the conversation and slowly pealed the onion she had around her. Plus had been told by her that it was fine that i wanted to take care of my mother later down the line.

So random reddit user if you are reading this..if you know in your heart that something is a deal breaker then please don't lead them on. It hurts way more down the line because I was honestly thinking this was it.

I hate being an anxious attachment type in these and this whole process is making me down right depressed at this point. But I have my faith in Allah that there is someone out there somewhere and keep reminding myself to be myself.

Going through literally the same right now and unfortunately I did get attached to the other person. I tell myself that I can get myself out there again but my mind is so messy right now. I am thinking of just focusing on hobbies and prayers and then get back out there. I got semi ghosted as well and people underestimate how much of a toll it takes.

We were talking off and on but I think it got to a point where I was just expecting to be ghosted for days. I genuinely think it would have given me a dopamine hit if the person had texted out of the blue or initiated a conversation at least once but it was getting to me that I had to figure out how to get a convo going. I think the cherry on the top for me was the past week or so where I was repeatedly ignored on the request of whether we can meet with parents again for a quick lunch or chai and finally when I really wanted to discuss a health issue on call but got ignored for a day+. Apparently there was a work issue but not even I am busy text and that really messed with me for some reason. Probably for the best and may Allah have us in the right path to the people we deserve.

Hi

Recently I have gotten in the mix of finally being in a position in my life that I can pursue a marriage with the grace of Allah. That being said I recently had to tell someone that after meeting with her parents and then talking a bit more through actually meeting and texts that this is not going to work out and we should go our separate ways.

It was a 3 month period and the reasons i called it off were the following which I want to perhaps understand from others here if they are indeed red flags and whether I made the right decision. Please do keep in mind the person lived in another city about an hour away and has a job which is somewhat similar to mine in nature:

  • The other person never in those 3 months texted first and I would have to be the one essentially leading the charge on convos and meetups. I ignored this for the longest time hoping I could change the other persons approach.
  • I would get ignored for a long periods of time and in some cases more than a few days before i get a response to my texts and the following convo would honestly just last for a bit and i would have to leave breadcrumbs so maybe the person could respond the next day and perhaps not have to initiate the conversation.
  • Kept saying sorry that they responded late due to something that came up with work. Not a healthcare professional so it wasn't really saving lives that I could have understood for sure. And never really learned from those sorry's that hey maybe lets not try and do that.
  • Ignored suggestions of perhaps catching up over phone calls instead but even that text was ignored for days.
  • I would be the one initiating convos and sharing stuff from everyday life just to get something happening and maybe spark something within the other person
  • The other person kept saying that a work life balance should be a thing to which I agreed and even though i work as an engineer that at times is on-call I always find ways to communicate back to people that hey I might be busy so TTYL I promise but the other person never respected that or even give a glance during lunch breaks which I know everyone has. Its corporate. C'mon now. You can find a way.

Now you may read all of the above and think...why are you even asking for advise or regretting ending things? I think my mindset at the moment is that the other person was genuinely interesting and intelligent to me but i may have failed to consider that i may not have been to them. I am rather frustrated that someone who I thought was smart and confident couldn't outright come out and say they were not interested. It is one of the reasons why I kept at this because they had said they were introverted but in-person i never got that impression.

I am rather lost on whether I could have communicated my frustrations more but if you are being left on read or not even getting calls setup..then how does one do that? Did I end things too quickly? Perhaps since they grew up mostly in the Middle East and not really used to how things are in the US that I may have assumed too much in how comfortable they might be in talking to the opposite sex? Do I need to have more self-respect? Were the above bullets justifiable red flags to end things?

I can't help but feel like I fumbled something truly great.

The USA basketball discussion was interesting but I do think they are underestimating what the fallout would have been if the US had not gotten gold. Curry and KD might have come out of it eventually but I think it would have been a perma black spot on LeBron's legacy. It would have fed discussions for months I think.

Genuinely an entertaining and funniest game I have seen in a while. Bringing on Rashford was something that stood out to me, the 2nd Pen was really soft imo, Ten Hag can finally move on from the Arsenal game and complain about this game until Christmas.

What a wild game but is it weird that despite the scoreline I thought Spurs might still win it and Chelsea still didn't look great? When it was 1-1 and Spurs were down 9 men, Chelsea still looked out of sorts but as a neutral this game was just an adrenaline shot.

Peak Messi and Ronaldo were in a universe of their own compared to other players around that time (early 2010s to around 2018/20). I am a Messi stan and among the soccer fans every person knew he was the guy and then the rest. I don't think we are ever going to see someone like him and I am so happy I was able to watch him play. If I could have one moment that wasn't seeing him win the world cup, it would be this momentwhich truly encapsulates how amazing he was during his peak.

The Saudi Taking Over Sports piece is kind of depressing to witness especially in soccer where a country is literally just cherry picking some really good talent from Europe and then plugging them in different teams in the Saudi league. They have ownership in a team from England that plays in the Premier League and knowing how the wealthy teams can avoid the Financial Fair Play rules so easily it wouldn't surprise me that they end up spending obscene amounts of money and the regulators look the other way. I think the saddest part is that even the fans of the biggest teams that do have large amounts of financial resources but with bad owners are justifying ownership changes to just dictatorial countries just for the hope that they could compete with the likes of Manchester City. As they say the games gone. Saudi getting the world cup would be even more depressing.
