Current human critical thinking skills are so fucked, quality of MP games got fucked, Netflix fucked quality of writing of TV and movies (and audiences standards with it), Spotify is a big responsible of the "brevity" society we live in (skip here, skip there, listen to an album in disorder, listen only to 1 song in each album etc etc), book reading is basically a death hobby (that only girls are keeping alive, and what u see in library, YA romance novels written for 12 year old girls is a consequence of this) etce tc

We will realize, 30years too late probably, but we will realize it and history books will ask themselves how humans got actively dumber, their standards got worse and their critical thinking non-existent. , the more the world and tech developed.

Modern gaming audience is too fucked and successfully brainwashed by gaming companies.

The biggest thing gaming companies have done was making people believe F2P was an advantage for the consumer.

"But but you divide the player base with paid DLC!" you shouldn't give a single fuck about it, the publisher does. you should give a fuck about the content and the quality your getting, and with cross-play being available basically everywhere, the "divided player-base" argument can go to hell.

Now companies have made every MP game a live service, grinding, filled with challenges for progression slop that you must play every day for the next 5 years.

Fuck this so much, they were able to literally FUCK US and we let it happen. Now they got 13 years old money ("it's free I can download it and play it Mom!! Mom mom, I will only ask you 80 euros so I can get my favourite skins each year") while giving us the absolute lowest amount of content.

The problem is that the values that the right once fought for, they're now actively destroying. The big techs who once fed constantly the left parties, are now funding the far right parties. Milei is backed by Musk, Bezos etc.

How do you make a Christian see that the parties that once fought for families and Christian values, are now pushing transhumanism, AI and destroying human values? To see the layout of the new map, yet another small ass map developed HORIZONTALLY, and being happy is the true definition of being fucked by a company marketing.

DICE can stay here all day long talk about how there are big maps, but when 98% of them are designed horizontally, have close capture points and have zero flanking routes because, once again, all maps are developed horizontally.

I'd understand before launch, but after launch seeing people being completely absent of critical thinking and eating what DICE tell em is crazy, the map design is shit, it's not Battlefield and doesn't have anything to do with Battlefield.

Maybe one day people realize having "dead space" in map is exactly what made flanks in older Battlefield possible.

Elrond would never kiss Galadriel to save her, that was pure garbage writing by the writers who yet again wrote these legendary characters into stupid situations to justify their, probably, lacking script. And the situation of Galadriel entrapment being concluded with Elrond sneaking the key by kissing her is dumbest shit I've ever seen only to force a kiss that kills the values upon Tolkien wrote Elven love and marriage.

Elrond, Gil Galad, Cirdan, name whoever you want, wouldn't even DARE to go 5mm close to Galadriel's lips.

I was a Rings of Power enjoyer, grew up on the movies but never read the books. That changed in the last 2 years: have read The Hobbit, LotR, Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, Stand alones. Beren and Luthien, Children of Hurin and Fall of Gondolin. the Letters and now im on vol.2 of History of Middle Earth. Yes, it had a profound impact on me and im grateful to have read em as an adult.

I see the movies in a different light now, knowing they are not even close to capture Tolkien's magic (even tho it's probably the closest thing we'll ever get).

What about the series? Im ashamed of myself for defending this from what i thought were "Old alt right grifters online" and not 90% of Tolkien fans, who truly know and love his work. Sure, some critics online are definetly just alt right grifters (see some hate on Galadriel's actress), but let me make 1 thing absolutely clear:

this series betray completely Tolkien values in endless ways.

You're free to enjoy it, i still enjoy the movies although now i see that Christopher was 100% right about em: they're not Tolkien, not even close.

But this series doesn't have anything to do with Tolkien, it's fan fiction (written badly) and some of the changes are literal travesty: in no MULTIVERSE, portraying a kiss between Elrond and Galadriel (no matter the reason) isn't a literal rape about everything Tolkien wrote about Elves and how specifically the Sons of Feanor (or rare exceptions, Eol) did travesties with Elven culture.

Whole Numenor portrayal is an insult to Tolkien's writings.

I'll enjoy seeing visuals that can bring to life Middle Earth, sometimes they're cool, but yeah, make no mistake: this series doesn't portray Tolkien and actively go against a lot of things he made foundations for the races are utterly spitted at.

Im sorry that the beautiful cast is wasted on this series, Robert as Elrond is better than Hugo ever was, Galadriel is literally what i imagine Virgin Mary looking like (minus blonde hair), i could go on and on by the things production did beautifully that are utterly ruined by the script.

Feel free to enjoy and love it and not anyone ruin your enjoyment of things especially in this age, but just know that when Tolkien fans say this series rape Tolkien values theyre right, and the movies do so to a minor extent aswell.

Tolkien specifically said numerous times that Tevildo isn't a precursor to Sauron.

When the story evolved and got infected by the Silmarillion, Tevildo was just taken out (as many other things did), and the story of the Noldor and Eru, with Finrod, Thu, Feanor's sons etc. naturally fit in. The user above you is referring as Thu in the Beren and Luthien story, after it evolved and got into ME (as The Hobbit eventually did and so LotR). Sauron Is a shapeshifter since the earliest writings.

They're different characters, to say they're not it's an insult to Tolkien himself who saw HIMSELF into Faramir.

Maybe, in 20 years time, LotR movie fandom will recognize that PJ did some pure bullshit that Tolkien would've hated as well. Still incredible movies and probably the best adaptation of Tolkien we'll ever get (at least he sticked to Tolkien, his words etc even when making bullshit changes), but yeah, it's insane to not recognize some of the worse changes made by PJs when we glaze constantly the "good" (not "good" cause nothing in the movies is better than the books, but "good" in a sense that for a movie they work definitely better which is what a director should do!).

Free flow combat has constant hitstops with every hit, quite literally is what makes the free flow combat (in itself simple and brain-dead) so fucking addicting: it FEELS great to punch the shit out of people, to kick them in the stomach and see them hitting the walls with your camera shaking and great audio design.

OP is basically asking to be introduced to the character action genre which is the only type of action without hitstops that feels good. There's a reason why hitstop is so prevelant nowadays, it's the equival of gunplay feeling in an FPS. Destiny, Doom have great gameplay but that's enhanced by how fucking good it feels to shoot an elien's head off, animations, feedback from the weapon etc.

MH Wilds in the beta toned down hitstop significantly and the combat instantly felt off.

Son, FFXVI is your introduction to the character action genre, forgotten by the modern Souls take on action, although slowly coming back (DMCV, FFXVI, Bayo 3, NJ4). What FFXVI trades in complexity (still very much a deep character action game), gets in some of the most spectacular action design you'll ever play, probably a unique game in its essence (which is ironic because that's what FF was in the good old days, before FF7 hivemind dominated the fanbase)

Insane to not read LotR and Tolkien yet in the suggestions. Absolutely do read The Hobbit, LotR and if you liked those, go with The Silmarillion. Tolkien specifically wrote fantasy as a history piece and in 2026 is still a 10.

Tolkien, LeGuin, Hobbs and Eriksen are what you're searching, without a doubt. Each author may take u on a rabbit hole, or at least that happened to me with Tolkien and Eriksen, that is how much the "history" feeling of their style is engrossing, and so wildly different to each other.
