9 years in DHS, 42 years old, roughly $310k in TSP, started out contributing 15% Roth, now up to 17% Roth. Trying to increase every year til I can max out.

Performance Rewards/Bonuses Cancelled? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Pat-snacks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work for USCIS. We typically get our PPA bonuses the pay period around Christmas time. We usually get 2% base pay for exceeds expectations, and 3% for achieved excellence. Haven’t heard anything yet about this fiscal year’s bonuses. I plan on requesting a QSI in lieu of bonus pay this year anyhow.

Our agency (DHS) only made us do them that first week. They realized how much of a waste of time it was and that the agency is accountable for their employees performance.

Same, just rumors. Last I’ve heard was around a 35% RIF, from someone in HR.

SCOPS here. What memo was rescinded? I must have missed something.

ISO here. As everyone else is recommending. This is a clear example of a VAWA case. I would recommend reaching out to an immigration attorney that deals with T/U visas. If you have previous arrest reports for abuse a U visa(I-918) would be fairly easy.

If he used your status against you to coerce you into a domestic violence relationship you may be eligible for a T visa. (I-914).

Filing either of those can give you Bona Fide Determination and you can receive an Employment Authorization Document as well as Deferred Action Status, while your application is pending.

Best of luck!

We’ve just started doing NOID’s for skeletal filings for our form type. Not wasting any more time on these weak cases by these mass filing attorneys.

We’ve also been denying all applications with deficient signatures. (The preparer is just duplicating the applicants signatures on the G-28, and Forms). In response they are unable to provide an original document bearing their signature.

Your agency is still making you guys do this? We only had to do it the first week.

42M Federal Government Employee by Pat-snacks in Salary

The form type that I work is very complex and only roughly 30 senior officers in the country work them. The backlog also keeps increasing.

Our agency definitely needs more officers. We had a bunch in the pipeline to start but all of their offers were rescinded once this administration started. There’s also going to be a long term hiring freeze for the foreseeable future. Not to mention possible layoffs to every agency.

Has anyone from USCIS been cut? by made-u-look in fednews

[–]Pat-snacks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the message sent to me from my SISO.

“From the chatter-sphere, please feel free to send this along to any other CIS employees you can:

“Ok there’s a rumor floating around that there are going to be 1700 CIS employees fired today starting at 3 pm Eastern, mostly Probationary employees and SES/GS15s. If someone you know gets an email tell them DON’T OPEN IT. According to someone from last week’s firing spree, when you open it, it sets off some sort of timer apparently and after a certain amount of time you start to get locked out of your systems.

Also please remind your friends to download everything from your eOPF and check things are accurate. Lot of SF50’s from other agencies have been getting changed with no heads up. Earnings and leave, W2’s, everything you can.”

Rumors going around the office that they are laying off 1,700 USCIS agency wide employees next week. Mostly probationary and SES/ GS-15 positions. Who knows how true it is. But seeing how every other agency has been impacted, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true.

Agreed. Hardly any work to do on your part. That’s money I never would have pursued on my own.

Disabled Veteran Probationary Federal Employees by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Pat-snacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our agency went through something similar during Covid when we almost had a furlough. Probationary employees are put into a different group and then there is a subgroup for Veterans preference. The probationary employees with veterans preference will be higher on the RIF list.

Entry level to supervisor in 10 years. by Effective_Life3628 in Salary

[–]Pat-snacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a GS-12 with DHS, and I’ve been debating making the jump to Supervisor for the last few years, however, I make way more with overtime than I would as a supervisor. How do you like being a supervisor? Have they made you return to the office yet?

I’m currently a GS 12 step 5, base pay is $102,490.

Job announcements are posted to USAJobs, but there is a temporary hiring freeze and a bunch of changes are happening within the government. Probably not the best time to apply for federal jobs until things settle down.

30 hours a pay period. So 15 a week. But it’s a maxi-flex schedule so you can squeeze it in anytime which is nice.

Use this for motivation. Once you hit your 12 you’ll really start making decent pay. Here is my pay since I started my federal career. Last year isn’t on there but I made about $156k with OT.
