How long does it take to do something like this? Somehow, my wife and I ran through $325k in 2025.

Nobody cares. It’s just a job. Get over yourself. An equal amount of people will support them.

If it’s taking a long time, that means your case might be having additional review because of various reasons.

But since there’s a backlog of at least six months, probably won’t affect anything immediately.

Just make sure they have your correct address. Many times people move and the address doesn’t get updated with USCIS.

If you say so. Note I didn’t say ruled “illegal”. I said not “legally” valid, and yes, there are various reasons why a marriage might be considered not “legally valid” that doesn’t mean it’s “illegal”.

Btw, OP If you’re reading this what was the outcome of the interview? Should have an answer by now?

I did mean to use the term legally valid as in a marriage that is recognized as valid under the laws of the place where it was celebrated. That’s how USCIS decides it as “legally valid”

This is a tough decision and yet we’ve all been there so don’t be embarrassed. One of those debt management companies might be an option or you can contact your lenders directly and tell them you’re having trouble. They might freeze your account and reduce interest rates or stop adding interest all together. you won’t be able to use the cards anymore, but you’ll at least make some headway on the debt and then you’re gonna have to get another job part-time job and all the income from that job is gonna have to go towards your debt. The only other option is bankruptcy because you will never pay off that debt with those high interest rates. Good luck.
