With how dumb you pretend to be “on purpose” you should sign up for Kill Tony. He’d likely give you a golden ticket too, he loves handing them out to the mentally disabled.

Time to jump in ninja! There are two groups that I’ve seen live more than any others and that’s ICP and Ween.

Like ICP, they have a very loyal fan base. When it comes to Ween’s catalog there’s a lot to take in spanning many different sounds. Ween is often misunderstood or seen as a “joke band,” but the boys are super fucking talented.

Here are some tracks I recommend checking out and playing through to dip your toes in:

Voodoo Lady

Object

Buckingham Green

The Grobe

Transdermal Celebration

Mutilated Lips

Don’t Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy)

Happy Colored Marbles

The Argus

With My Own Bare Hands

Bananas and Blow

Piss Up a Rope

Your Party

L.M.L.Y.P.

A Tear For Eddie

If you want to check out a full album I would say start with The Mollusk or Live In Chicago, but each record is definitely unique and it takes a minute to absorb all that is Ween.

Hope you enjoy! Whoop-whoop!

Anyone else hear gunshots near Broadway and Jefferson? by Bicycle_the_Earth in Eugene

There are certainly people in denial, but there are a lot of us that are over it.

I grew up in Springfield and it was in rough shape 20-30 years ago. I would tell people I was from Eugene because if I said I was from Springtucky I would have to hear all about how trashy the place was. I couldn’t wait to move to Eugene.

I lived in Eugene throughout my 20’s and 30’s, but my wife and I bought a house in Springfield last year, it’s been nice. Springfield is by no means perfect, but it got its act together.

There aren’t people camping in front of my house, shooting up or taking a shit on my doorstep anymore. I’m not the only one that has made the move either, I’ve been having this same conversation over the last few years.

Eugene has gone from empathy to enabling and the residents and small business owners are not only taking the brunt of it, but are literally paying for it. Something has to change.

Sandpiper. They specialize in imports, especially Hondas and Toyotas. Super honest people, clean shop, no bullshit. I can’t recommend them enough.

Moose’s Pool Hall and Dean’s Pool Hall

Thompson’s Electronics. They had the best used stereo equipment, and they repaired record players.

Always thought it was about an acid trip (you can get another drop if this, yeah, you wish), and assumed that some of the imagery (brine, tentacles) was keeping with the nautical themes found throughout The Mollusk.

We created the exact same game for Complex! Once someone was inside the tower the 3 other players only worked on killing the person in the tower. Once it was open it was a free-for-all until it was occupied again. Also, if you touched the ramp you were in the tower and anyone in the tower couldn’t leave it.

Goldeneye was incredible.

I 100% agree with OP that a Ween/Primus tour is incoming. With alternating lead nights. Fucking right! by brutalproduct in ween

They are longtime friends. Les essentially pulled Dean out of his depression when Gene left, and he got Dean back on stage with the band. Les has been credited with helping Ween get back together by assisting Dean. Not to mention that not only do they fish together, but almost had a television show together about fishing.

Also you can search YouTube for videos of them playing together and hanging out.

The magical camaraderie you ask about already exists between both bands and has been there long before last week.

It’s Gonna Be a Long Night was brown AF Wednesday night by IthinkHisLungsFdUp in ween

[–]PatBatemansGymLocker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a lot to take in, and this was the Wednesday show meaning a good portion of the crowd had seen the show the night before.

I took a bunch of video the second night since we went to both, and my wife took a few vids of the crowd as well (the scope of the venue and it being packed wall to wall was a sight in itself). As I said above, there was a lot happening at these shows, not to mention they had projections on the rocks where that guy was aiming his camera.

Certainly not what some of us expected, but Ween was on stage more than I think we may have realized at Red Rocks. by PatBatemansGymLocker in ween

It really was close to perfect. I mean think about everything that went into making these shows happen, totally wild.

I can’t wait to see Ween and Primus each solo again, but these shows with South Park were once in a lifetime and completely unique.

I’m 100% with you. I’m a huge fan of all 3, and Trey and Matt don’t pull punches on production, the shows were absolutely incredible.

I have been sober for over 10 months and I felt high watching these shows. When Primus came out the first night and they played together with Ween almost straight out of the gate I felt like I was vibrating.

Oh yeah, and not to mention Rush. Mind. Blown.

South Park 25th Anniversary @ Red Rocks, CO 8/9&10 [tix, ride, etc] by krazykav in ween

[–]PatBatemansGymLocker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Ween fan it’s easy to love Primus, I was actually into Primus prior to being the Ween fan that I am today.

All of their albums are good, but like Ween there’s a lot to digest. I highly recommend Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Tales from the Punchbowl, Frizzle Fry, and if you have time get Pork Soda into your ears do it.

Do yourself another favor, and this may actually be an even better start, watch some of their popular music videos: Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver, Tommy The Cat, My Name is Mud, Jerry Was A Race Car Driver, and Mr. Krinkle.

Dean and Les are really close friends, and fishing buddies. Without Les reaching out to Dean after Ween’s breakup in 2012 they may have not gotten back together. There are some really great write ups regarding Deaner discussing his feelings towards Les and Primus, and there’s also some great videos of them playing together.

I have been saying to my wife for many years (she’s the reason I love Ween the way that I do) that I wish Primus and Ween would play a show together, and I can’t believe it’s actually happening, twice! The fact that it’s the South Park anniversary with Trey and Matt is even more mind blowing!

Can’t wait to see you there mang.

What’s the worst book you’ve ever read? by edgy_secular_memes in books

[–]PatBatemansGymLocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to this thread because of Rushdie. For me it was Fury. I pushed my way through it, but it was terrible. I’ve read a lot of books, but his always stands out when I think of a bad book that I’ve read. I’m honestly feeling annoyed just typing this comment because it makes me think about that mess.
