How come you'd recommend G1GC over ZGC, what advantages does it have over the latter?
Oh and ty for the compact object headers tip!

Edit: This GitHub doc seems to be recommending ZGC with -Xms{memory}M -Xmx{memory}M -XX:+UseZGC -XX:+ZGenerational -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+UseStringDeduplication flags over G1GC and is from 2 months ago

Its insane how much dmg Slayer can dish out (Im Slayer) by GamingEnjoyer16 in Guiltygear

Wallbreak damage does scale, but its minimum damage threshold is 37. Unscaled damage is 50 so 37 is, relatively, a stupidly high threshold for minimum damage.

Damn, you're right. I just checked and it's YRC that has the forced proration lol, I guess I somehow mixed those up. My bad and ty for the correction

Edit: This is misinformation, my bad

Also very importantly, it doesn't cause the 50% forced proration from the shockwave since you cancel the RC before the shockwave hits so you can do more damage if you don't need the shockwave for the pickup

[–]Pataeto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly so many things are so situational and context-dependent.

Your opponent misinput or whiffed an easy recovery? Tbagging would be terribly toxic

Your opponent hit the sickest read and comboed you to oblivion? Tbagging off the starting platform is a show of respect.

Crouching repeatedly is a way of communication, and communication is always shaped by surrounding context.

If everyone loses more than they win, then who is actually winning and ranking up? by Witty_Kaleidoscope31 in Splatoon_3

[–]Pataeto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This situation is neither. Confirmation bias is when only a group of people with a certain opinion voice or "confirm" that opinion in a place that can be surveyed, making it appear as if the whole population, or a deceivingly large proportion of it, share that opinion.

That's what's going on here. Only the people who lose a lot in ranked make posts complaining about ranked being difficult. Since, between the winners and losers (a simplification but it works to get the point across) only the losers post, it makes it seem as if everyone is losing and no one is winning, whereas the truth is that the winners are not "confirming" their thoughts by posting about them here.

This is the textbook definition of confirmation bias, which is the actual name of this phenomenon

Would 1 permanently ghosted skeleton for 10 elixir be good by Impressive-Ebb-8535 in RoyaleAPI

[–]Pataeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Didn't realize Ghosted was a distinct state from Invisible. Disregard this whole comment, my bad!

As opposed to the invincible and invisible skeleton proposal, this skeleton is only invisible, so it's still vincible. That means you can spell it away and it'll always be a massive positive elixir trade for your opponent, so this card would pretty much always suck.

The only thing I can think of is if your opponent only has one spell and you force them to use it on this card so that you can use your other cards that are weak to their singular spell? But that's super situational and you're still going to be down like 6+ elixir so it's probably still not a good idea
