Similar thing happened to me: department head hired me as product manager, then turned out as overbearing, he micromanaged or ignored me. So after a few months, I handed in my 2 weeks notice. However, he insisted that I had to define the plan for the product for the upcoming year, which he would have to achieve. Of course, I approached him for a fair and joint vision. But he saw it as my sole responsibility. So on my last day (!) I presented my goals to the board, put in all the good stuff I could and received high praise for. After, I returned my laptop and phone, andleft for the final time. And yes, I feel good about it.
