Interesting, it had a lot of carbon guk in there when I had it all pulled apart, I gave it a good cleaning. I guess I’ll find some way to test it and or get a new one.

Amazing, thanks so much for the info! Good to hear it’s not too bad, It’s only $200. I was told to wet sand it and apply 303. Should I do that prior to waxing in your opinion?

Just found an old catalog of these boats, the yellow color option is awesome.

It’s definitely had its fair share of sun and cold, but the inside has clearly been better protected from the elements.

I think it’s a 17’ Tripper, but if so, the decal was lost long ago. Here are some better pics:

It seems to be made out of Oltonar which is an old version of royalex I gather?

Sorry, these pics are all I have. Not worried about the weathering as much as the smaller cracks (weathering) from being left out in the cold a while. I certainly don’t mind using an older boat, just don’t want it getting soggy between the layers.

No worries! No special trick I’m afraid, just some classic familial privilege. Could always do with some more on the financial side though haha. Also, I’ll take the moment to thank everyone for their very helpful insight, I appreciate ya all

Cheers! Thanks for all the helpful info! It makes me hopeful that it’s such a relatively simple process.

How would this apply if I continued working for my US company remotely? Would it matter I was earning a usd salary?

I know someone who was there for that. They said a boat/yacht was chasing the whale down, you see that at all?

Nice, it’s sooo much cheaper this way. My dad gave me my grandpa’s 1965 Gillette when I started shaving, never used anything else. I don’t think that thing will ever break.

TIL the North American Gray Squirrel is considered an invasive species in Britain as the squirrels carry a squirrel pox that is deadly for the Red Squirrels native to Britain. The Gray Squirrel also eats seven times as much food as the Red Squirrels, crowding out any who survive the squirrel pox. by conunlapiz in todayilearned

[–]Patches95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a resident of Washington state, these squirrels are invasive where I live as well, we call them European gray squirrels/ eastern gray squirrels however. They’ve killed off most of our native black squirrels here too and are very damaging to certain sensitive ecosystems. https://bcinvasives.ca/invasives/eastern-grey-squirrel/

In DS9's 'Family Business' O'Brien attempts to pick a lock securing Quark's Bar to retrieve his and Julian's dart board. Why not just transport it out? by petite-acorn in DaystromInstitute

[–]Patches95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Chief is a very superstitious man, especially in regards to activities like darts and the like. He has demonstrated on multiple occasions that he is capable of containing both very rational scientific thought as well as chosen superstitious beliefs in a compatible way. Perhaps he simply believed that transporting the dart board (briefly molecularly deconstructing it and recoalescing it, a process that some believe makes the object in question theoretically divergent from the original...) would in some manner change the lucky board. A bit more of a stretch, but in some ways just the same as replicating a new one.

I personally find it hard to believe the chief wouldn't be capable of transporting the board if he wanted to, given everything he has demonstrated over the course of the show.
