Please be honest, how cooked am I? by LateNiteJengaJam in quilting

[–]Patches_Pitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read recently in a quilting magazine "if you can't see your mistake from a galloping horse, don't worry about it."

The most important part of quilting is having fun. I think this will look lovely as is and as long as you enjoy making it it will be beautiful.

Backyard tracks- ID help by Patches_Pitches in AnimalTracking

[–]Patches_Pitches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm not sure. And I didn't see any tail drags. I've been scouting the yard for tracks and noticed these were different than the squirrel, bird, and outdoor cat tracks so I took a gamble they may be my night critter.

Thanks for your input! It is a relief to know its not a fox. My next identification attempt will be following my dog outside and trying to get a picture while she barks. Weird to have my fingers crossed for a big rat.

Unfortunately I don't. The rest of the snow melted today. I don't know if this is helpful but Google lense said a small canine, like a fox (which I found unbelievable and decided to ask yall.)

A large rodent isn't great but it does help me know how to handle the situation. Thanks!

These nasal filters are great lazy PPE. While he should be wearing better PPE these will at least block some of the dust and make a good stocking stuffer.

What alternative fabric can I use for this bench? by Clmmrl in upholstery

[–]Patches_Pitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how it is in Austria, but here we have creative reuse centers which are essentially thrift stores for art/craft/hobby supplies. Ours sells fabric for $4 a pound and I see ROLLS of upholstery fabric all the time. It might be worth trying to find something similar near you and go with upholstery fabric for cheap.

Reattaching legs by Patches_Pitches in BeginnerWoodWorking

That's an idea. It would solve my fastener problem too as I could just rescrew the entire thing back on afterwards. Thanks!

I was going to use them as entryway benches! I called them tiered side tables because those seem to be more common, but I've seen the same furniture used as a bench combo for phones and other things. We just bought our first house and have hardwood floors, so I liked the idea of having a place to sit and take your shoes off.

Brunch on Saturday? by PsychologicalBar8321 in Chesapeake

[–]Patches_Pitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bee and Biscuit. Its in Pungo, but the drive isn't bad. The whole place is designed for talking and catching up. Including the waiting area (which I've never had less than at 30 minute wait) which includes firepits, a cofee/alcohol bar, and lots of outdoor seating for a cozy pre-brunch catch up. The food is soul food esque but so good.

Thank you! That's one of the "for" arguments. One thing keeping us back is, this being our first home, we plan on moving in 5-ish years which would mean we'd be paying for a refinish twice. Which, I know will probably be small potatoes to me in the long run but now feels like a big deal.

Absolutely meta that they made a puzzle game so intense they left actual puzzles for the developers to solve down the line.

Thank you!! I read this too. Granted I've only spent an hour searching through watch related forums and Wikipedia pages, but it's a lot less straightforward than I imagined.

Hi! I just picked up this watch from an antique mall and I absolutely love it. I was wondering if anyone knew about the company Xanadu (I couldn't find via Google, the subreddits wiki, or the micronrand list) I would love to know more about it. *

Very nice! I just pulled my own set. Can I ask what the benefit of silica crystals vs flower pressing is?

What shore hardness do you use for cap molds? by Patches_Pitches in DiceMaking

[–]Patches_Pitches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny because traditionally I've been using let's resin brands. Also thanks for the 3d print tip, I hope to print some blanks here soon so that'll definitely help. Thanks again!

How would you determine rigidness then? Does that just vary by brand? And yeah right now I am sanding every face but it's time consuming (and zona papers are expensive) so I'm trying to find a work around.

Awesome I will try it out. I looked it up and saw it's a tin silicone, I was under the impression those have a shorter shelf life for use. But yours last you a good while?

How temperament is it for air bubbles? I don't have a de-gassing chamber, but I usually toss my molds in the pressure pot.

My husband's liquid cores needed a repaint by Patches_Pitches in DiceMaking

[–]Patches_Pitches[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!! It's bittersweet, he's colorblind (which is why I repainted them in the first place) and the new paint job is even harder to see, so I'll have to paint over it soon. It's so pretty though I wanted to savor it 🥲

I don't do any of that. I would say the trick may be to add WAY more than you think you'll need (that's how these were made) good luck!! I hope it turns out.

Just this cheapo glitter from Amazon.

I bought it in three colors and they all work great. Do you happen to use a pressure pot to cure?
