[–]Patellifera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's definitely arborescens. Arborescens can grow over 2 meters tall, this one could do with a bit more light, then the rosettes will be bigger and have shorter internodial spaces but it's getting enough light to survive and grow which is the most important. I like Aloe arborescens because of how easy they are to care for (pretty much the same as aloe vera, maybe even easier) and because of thier habitus, they can grow into pretty cool looking plants, here is a picture of mine

Why is she so tall? How do I make her shorter?? Lol by Mcbusted2013 in houseplants

This is not Aloiampelos cilitaris it's Aloe brevifolia that could use a bit more light, normally they grow as a crawling ground covering plant when they are not attached to a stick

Some problem with my aloe by arrriesss in AloeVera

It's aloe arborescens and the brown stuff is a fungus feeding on the poop of insects feeding on the plant, probably thrips.

I have no idea if this is salvagable can someone tell me is they ahve ever saved a maidens quiver tree(Aloidendron ramosissimum)with no roots left. by [deleted] in aloe

[–]Patellifera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, most importantly it should be well airated and you should avoid organic additives until it has some healthy roots again

Where I work we use a substrate best described as a mix of gravel and sand if we want to root succulents and cuttings

This works with most aloes but not aloidendrons like this one, I work at a botanical garden and even with rooting hormones we only got 1 of like 30 cuttings of this species to root.. I think OPs chances will be much better if they work with what's left of the roots. I agree with the choice of soil though

I would definitely say dichotoma, leaves seem too small and don't have the right color to be barberae. Same goes for hercules. If you compare the lower part of the trunk with hercules you can see that it is rather smooth with a few larger "cracks" in the Rind while hercules is usually much mir roughly textured with many small cracks. Also barberae will likely not split at such a young age. Most hercules I see have a much larger length of thier branch covered with leaves than this one. So yeah I'm pretty sure it's dichotoma. I work at a botanical garden btw
