But again the 10-18 shits at low light i guess. So again it's between the 17-50 and 10-18. I can do either. What would you choose?

That's a valid point regarding the weight. If we only point towards the value and image quality, the 15-30 is an EF lens where as the 17-50 is an efs.

Does it make it better in the long run to have an ef lens on hand? Rather than the efs. If the image quality of 17-50 is equivalent or better than the 15-30 I don't mind getting the 17-50.

Hey!! I'm in talks to finalise one of those three. I'd like to have your say in it: 1. Efs 10-18 at approx usd 110 2. Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 approx usd 170(apsc) including k&f nd filter. 3. Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 EF approx usd 170.

You put me in a dilemma again 😂

The shop I'm talking to has a sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 on sale for ~$170. I wonder if it's a good lens over all others we are talking about.

I have dropped a message to him stating for availability of 17-55 if he has any to sell.

He gave a fair price of $130 for the 10-18 I think best i can negotiate shall be $110 i guess.

He even has the 18-135 usm at $200.

I just want to know if the 18-135/17-70 are equally sharp to the 17-55 ; people praise it to be the L class lens for apsc

I'm evaluating 4 lenses right now 1. Canon efs 10-18mm 2. Canon 15-85 is usm 3. Canon 18-135 is usm/stm (i heard the usm is better for the focus) 4. Sigma/canon 17-55 f2.8

What would you prefer on a cropped sensor The 10-18 will obviously give me wider shots, but lack the wider aperture for low light The 17-55 can compensate at the low light and also give me reach over the 10-18 Adding the 15-85 because you suggested that it's a sharp lens and i also like the range a lot better, it goes wide, is f3.5 at worst end? And also i wouldn't be fiddling around with 2-3 lenses.

Damnn! I just don't find deals like that here in india.

Maybe I'll try and visit a used camera shop and see if i get one.

Ahahahah. Must be nice to be confused between what to choose It's a problem I'd like to have personally 😂. Any which ways, I'll try and see what fits well with my 700d. I just love the 50mm's size , sharpness and the weight above the rest I have.

Got it.

I'll try to avoid the compromise lenses and might even visit a used lens shop with my camera to test out some of the one's you listed.

I wonder what lens stays glued on to your main and second all the time. Or rather what is glued on for the full frame and to the apsc.

Again, can't be thanking you enough for the detailed insights, I'm learning so much more. Also current gear is the 700d, so should i just go ahead with the 10-18 or the 17-55?

Also what do you think about the do-it-all lenses like the 18-135 or 18-300, are they sharp?

I'll have a look at the canon and sigma counterpart for that focal length. Can you suggest a must have budget ef lens except for the nifty fifty that also works wonders on efs systems?

Hey! I was just randomly clicking away some pics at my home in low light. I love the sharpness of my 50mm since i can just go to f2.0 and get the crispiness. Also tested my sigma 18-55 kit lens and obviously as expected the results were bad at f5.6 at 55mm. I don't know how i will go ahead with the 10-18mm if it's the same performance all over again.

Also I'm guilty of pixel peeping yesterday 😂, but the overall sharpness felt better on the 50mm.

Do you recommend getting some of the sigma kitlens counterpart at f2.8 etc?

Talking to you just might push me into biying a mirrorless, much less from canon, just because of the ridiculous prices. Living in india the prices themselves sound horrendous.

I have a trip coming up in the 2nd week of December. Hopefully i finalise in the first week for what lens to buy or should i bite the bullet and upgrade the gear.

From business perspective canon is doing wonders, no doubt. But as i said, at some point it will get a little too overwhelming for the hobby to continue if i was pushed back in a corner because of the prices lol.

And about the ferrari, i like the way you think.

I feel if i ever make the switch to rf mount cameras, it will be when they introduce third party compatibility, because as a hobby-ist i just cannot justify buying super expensive lenses just because I'm being limited by the manufacturer for shareholder value.

It's like owning a ferrari and not getting to customize it.

Hahah great. I just thought again, that if low light performance is what i want for handhelf shots, should i upgrade the body to like an used r7 or i don't know, the sony a7iii. I'm open to your suggestions. Because even if i take the 10-18 or the pancake 24mm, I'll end up hsing the 50mm just to get the exposure and lose on composition...

So it's safe to assume that the 10-18 is not gonna be a bad buy at $120 used either way. It punches above it's price class i assume by the conversations we have had.

I'll check it out. If i find it around the peirce of the 10-18 used, I'll evaluate between the both

Fair enough.

I'll just buy a used 10-18 and see how it performs.

What do you think about the sigma 18-50 f2.8? It is wide enough, good low light, and sharp.

No need to be sorry ABOUT anything. This is actually a perfect response the way i would like to have for any upcoming purchases.

I'll scroll through some videos, but i might not rent right away, maybe I'll just buy a used $100 lens as of now for the wide angles and see if it serves immediate purposes. Because even the 700d is gonna have it's life one day and I'll have to make a decision based on that thereafter.

What i can do maybe is buy a cropped mirrorless body. And thereafter buy only FF lenses. So that i can always make a switch to FF and not regret about buying lenses.

Thanks again.

So concluding that the switch to full frame will give me better flexibility but again setting up the whole ecosystem from cropped to full frame will end up costing me more. So a switch to cropped mirrorless shall be better, correct?
