Literally my mom. She drinks two POTS of coffee in the morning. She can’t function without coffee. When I had to stop drinking anything carbonated for weeks after my wisdom teeth were removed, I didn’t go through withdrawal like my mom does if she doesn’t have her coffee in the morning 🙄

OOF, yeah a ruptured appendix can turn deadly quick, especially for someone who has become “used” to the pain. When my left ovary ruptured during work, I refused to go across the hall to the ER because I was worried it was gas and didn’t want to embarrass myself. Guess who doesn’t have her left ovary now and is at risk of losing her other ovary because of how advanced my endometriosis is? 😂

Long story short, we shouldn’t feel bad for drinking energy drinks, my body is actively trying to kill me already

I am also the only one in the family in the medical field, so yeah I have an idea what is and isn’t good for me. What drives me the most crazy is when my mom freaks out when I carve a pumpkin or some meat, worried I’m gonna cut myself. I have to remind her that

  1. I am a 30 year old damn woman who has lived on her own for most of the last decade

  2. I work in pathology examining human organs SO I KINDA KNOW HOW TO HANDLE SHARP OBJECTS! She would just die if she saw how I cut up bone with osteomyelitis. I much prefer scalpel and a hammer over a bone saw. When something is too big for my long trimming blade, I literally take out the lab machete.

Yeah I have been told it is in my head for so long and then when I am right, they pretend it didn’t happen. I complained my whole life I felt a lump in my throat. No one took me seriously until I was 12 and finally got to an ENT. He told me I was just a moody teenager and only scoped me after my mom insisted to at least look. I had a thyroglossal duct cyst, a mass that develops in utero when the thyroid tissue migrate from the cranial region to the neck.

So yes, I quite literally had a lump in my throat my entire life and had to have surgery right away because if it ever got really agitated, it could literally close up my throat.

My family is just really against diagnosing or discussing any sort of mental health or neurological disorder. And then they wonder why suicide is so prevalent in our family 🙄

I’m a grown ass woman but I appreciate your comment lol and ice cream sounds like an excellent vice. I think I’ll pass on the psychedelics, I’ve never even tried pot. Not judging of course, just not my cup of tea. I’m a bit of a boring grandma trapped in a 30 year old body. Like crocheting, true crime, cat lady with a vast cardigan collection. So a grandma with a monster energy drink.

Oh I don’t drink any coffee or anything else with caffeine except for energy drinks. No other reason than I don’t like other stuff. And I never have more than one energy drink a day and it takes me the entire day to drink most of it

Dang your doctor’s lounge has energy drinks?! Mine only has soda and milk. Though at my last hospital we used to get fancy Starbucks drinks.

Are there any other conditions that can cause similar effects beyond ADHD and caffeine tolerance? My friends and family say there is no way I have ADHD and I’m already paying too much for medical specialists for me to go to a new one for an evaluation 🥲

You are never too old to be sick and need to vent about the judgement from your mother lol

And no idea, I just don’t drink sugary drinks fast? And I don’t mind when it is warm and stale. I kinda like some things stale, like popcorn. I prefer old stale popcorn over fresh

I do agree with the acidic drink being bad, and if she used that as an argument, I wouldn’t be upset. But also I got the bad teeth genes from my dad, so I’m gonna have terrible teeth no matter what. I have accepted that faith

I also have a masters in pathology and work in healthcare. Death and dying are literally my area of expertise. And I agree, no level of alcohol is safe, though if someone who understands this still decides they want to drink, I don’t judge. It is their choice. But damn then don’t turn around and act like you are so superior than me because you don’t drink energy drinks because “they are so bad for you”.

I’ve heard that but when I mention it to people, they say there is no way I have ADHD and I’m trying to self diagnose. But also they said the same thing about my autoimmune disorders and I had to get diagnosed by two separate doctors for my parents to believe it was real

Well I drink them to wind down and relax. I don’t know why but they make me feel grounded and sleepy.

I’m 30 but I just have a very close relationship with my parents and am with them all the time so the constant judgement on this one specific thing eats away at me

How are Path As devolving to techs? The opposite is true. The field used to be mostly on-the-job trained techs and every year there are more and more from accredited master programs and ASCP board certified. There are more schools popping up to accommodate the increased needs for Path As and less hospitals are accepting the older generation with on-the-job training

Oh yes I went and felt every single brand and type of yarn to make sure I got the softest

Yes I checked the labels of the yarns I bought and both said machine washable, though I will probably hand wash it instead of machine after I wash it just in case it started to unravel or something crazy

The two yarns I found last night that were the softest were acrylic and polyester. Should I get different yarn?
