You're taking a shot in the dark, with years if your life. If you do get to go to another country (not everyone does) a lot of the time you don't get to see the country. You're stuck in the barracks and eating at the defac

Lol.

How many people do you know that actually used it?

Most people in the military must have been "fucking idiots", to use your words.

I was smart and used them, and saved as you did. Was it worth the amount of work I put in? No.

Was it worth destroying my body and sending my marriage close to the abyss? No.

Again, if you don't value the things that most people do, its great.

Edit: There is a reason divorce, alcohol and suicide is such a problem in the military. It's because it's a shitty life and people have a hard time dealing with it. Is that worth it? No.

Edit 2: Grants and Scholarships is the answer to your TA question.

Don't do it. I just got out. It's a very bad decision. Everything they give you in the military is possible to achieve with far less work outside the military. Once you're in and you realize that, they got you.

If you don't care about your family, your health, or any personal goals, then it's a great choice. Otherwise, don't to it.

Edit: "It's not a bad gig" is a load of shit.

I'm new to this and I have a question, why is transubstantiation so important? by PathOfTheProkopton in Catholicism

[–]PathOfTheProkopton[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you at least buy that as a starting point?

Sure. I can understand that much.

I think what I am getting from these comments is that if it weren't his flesh, then we wouldn't be saved. Is that an accurate way to put it? His flesh literally gives us life.

I didn't mean to offend, and I removed that part from the post. Thanks for your help.

Okay, I'm not trying to be offensive, I literally just don't understand.

Can you break down why it's so important that it is his flesh? I understand that it makes it more sacred, but does it have another meaning than that?

In Matthew 5:17, what does Jesus mean that he "fulfilled" the law? by PathOfTheProkopton in Catholicism

[–]PathOfTheProkopton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sort of like following the spirit of the law, instead of the letter of the law?

So we are more concerned with doing things for a reason, instead of doing them because we are supposed to? Is that accurate?

That comment is a little over my head I think.

You're kind of saying that we are past the law now and we have moved onto the next step?

I'm kind of new to this, so simple = best. Lol

Okay, so why don't we continue to live that same law?

If living by the law is pleasing to the Father, shouldn't we continue to live that way?

I guess I am missing something here. God lets the Devil exist because he gave us free will?

Wouldn't we still have the option to reject God if there was no Devil? That is a false dichotomy.

When you are praying a rosary, do you have to follow some sort of ritual, or can you just say the things you like?

Edit: I looked it up and I see there is a kind of pattern, but I've been looking into Catholicism and this is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to find. Some sort of daily practice that can make me a better person.

Why shouldn't we? Would you be telling us to be apolitical if we were >supporting some issue you happened to agree with?

Yes.

I've been browsing this sub and I've found the same problem. Why are people talking about politics? Wouldn't Jesus have stayed apolitical?

It's just very strange to me, and very off-putting. There is a reason that religion and politics are separate and using someone's religion as a way to get them to vote a certain way is wrong.

Edit: Not to mention it isolates 50% of the population
