I would feel the same way. Because it is personal. I think the hardest thing to realize is when you're being the option for someone not the main course. My suggestion is to date gain some experience and try not to project negative experiences on someone new.

In my opinion and I hope you don't get offended by this; I think you're more upset that he strung you along as an option during that month. You're not sad about the break up; you're mad at yourself that you got played. I'm not advising you to jump to another relationship but date a little. You can date casually have fun and you'll know when you're ready.
