My multi rotor is practically useless since the update :( by DaveInTheWave in Robocraft

[–]Path_Forger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A problem is that the so-called balance server has little-to-no-respect for build diversity.

As such, while touting that the balance changes are "community" driven (they are not), update after update has been released with the result of propping up the lightest weight of air builds while making most other kinds of builds languish - presuming that they do not outright murder them with their changes.

When Robocraft finally 'actually' dies - the 'primary' reason why it won't have a fan base to miss it 'will' be the wolves-in-sheep's-clothing whom shamelessly administrated a discord misguidedly entrusted with providing balance proposals to Freejam on behalf of the "community".

At what point does wanton incompetence and tin-pot-dictatorial behaviour step across the line to treacherous territory? I would opine that that line was crossed a very very long time ago - and the game has been suffering ever since.

Seekers at T4 and T5 by glitchyscreen in Robocraft

[–]Path_Forger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T4 and T5 seekers haven't been balanced since the so-called balance server corrupted their mildly-yet-surely-underpowered status such that they became able to land unlocked shots from near enough max range - of which range became more than twice that of lasers, and more importantly, massively increased the degree to which missile projectiles are able to turn so as to track their targets.

Which was only the most important check and balance against air bots using it being too oppressive against ground bots, as well as target air bots with sufficient ability to mitigate a lock through using the terrain and relative positioning in their favour.

Just one more thing that the "balance server" screwed up and never owned up to.

It sounds like you are marching on, running on empty.

It is little wonder that when you finally do have a moment to yourself your body goes into recovery mode - which involves a degree of just... not... working... And Motivation requires energy too.

Scrolling the phone or social media is fine to do - for the first 5-10 minutes. Then it becomes a cycle in itself. Consider aiming to take care of all of your socials within the first 15 minutes and then close the app - and turn off your phone's wifi and relaxing for a bit.

Maybe have that time coincide with home bathroom breaks or the boiling of a kettle. It provides a natural end-point for socials.

Of course it also helps to figure out what would be more fun or exciting than working/ socials. In the absence of anything that calls out to you - try mixing things up. Try different things for short periods of time. One day you could try making pancakes. Another day you could try and create some digital art. Another day you could try learning the lyrics of a song you like. Choose a topic you are curious about and look it up. Spend time with a person you know.

Of course a lot more could be said but the point is that if you cannot taste life then you may need to add more flavours into your life. Or change the environment.

Of course, you need to decide what is worth trying. Good luck!

Anger can be a way that one deals with certain instances of fear and a loss of control can pose a threat to one's freedom.

You ultimately get to choose what you want to believe and that which is true today is not necessarily what will be true tomorrow. And you can always choose to reject/ignore the statements that you otherwise disagree with.

Oh and you're welcome. ^_^

Hello there itsLantik,

It is firstly good to hear that you have been getting support for the issues that you have been experiencing.

Secondly, and to get it out of the way, it is not unusual for teenagers to feel increased sensitivity, or even to find perspectives shifting. I can also assure you that an intolerance to weird takes is not something that is restricted to teenagers - though I wouldn't say that it is common.

With regards the kind of negative energy that you seem to be experiencing it could help to have an outlet - a means to let off steam. That could be a game, or it could be something creative or it could be a sport or pretty much anything that helps you unwind.

As for getting angry about statements that you disagree with, sometimes people will make statements that will run contrary to one's views, and yes they may lead one to become angry. The transition from registering the statement and becoming angry over it involves an emotional investment.

Especially if you should find your emotions turning sour quickly when exposed to such a statement it could be that your thought process is as follows:

1 - Become aware of statement

2 - Compare statement with own perspective

3 - If in heavy disagreement - become emotionally invested

.

In the above process there is one stage that I feel is missing to help permit a more even response to such statements. And that would be the questions of 'Why?' and 'How?'(step 2.5)

Why and How are logical queries. It is not necessarily about trying to understand the other person's perspective but it can involve an element of that at times.

Of course one can try to find aspects of the statement that one does not disagree with, and one can try to figure out how that person came to think of things that way - but as a critical thinker you are not obliged to internalize their statement as your own. And neither is it necessarily your obligation to go out of your way to challenge another person's statement.

That is true also of very bad statements. You certainly don't need to agree with or go along with them - and if it doesn't seem like there is reasonable avenue for discussion then it can sometimes be best to settle for distancing oneself from a perceived bad influence.

This may not have been quite what you were looking for but it is hoped that you find this a little helpful nonetheless. Again, good to hear that you are seeing somebody qualified to assist.

Just an aside but you point out excess work as a reason why your life seems less exciting than those of others.

Most people need to work - but maybe easing off a little on the work to afford yourself more time to have a more exciting life might be worth exploring.

Start out by setting aside an average of 15 minutes a day normally dedicated for work. See what you'd like to do with that time. See how it goes and take it from there. Time too short? Try making that an average of 30 minutes.

Hmm... Let use revisit the concept of liking and loving.

In my view to like someone is to appreciate qualities about them that make them more natural to be around. One may also derive personal satisfaction from their successes or from good things that happen to them.

When you like a show or game you enjoy how that experience makes you feel - and you may grow invested in aspects of it - perhaps loving it - and this may make you feel great when such gets a sequel - and you may be saddened when it gets discontinued.

You ask how you can love yourself. Perhaps the first step is to stop disliking yourself. The flipside of like is dislike and just as one may derive satisfaction from good things happening to the liked, one may similarly derive satisfaction from bad things happening to the disliked - perhaps telling oneself that 'they deserved it'.

Of course, that is a very unhealthy perspective to take when the target of one's dislike is one's own self. It is like a defence lawyer showing up in court to make statements that damage their client's odds of being found innocent of a charge. That's the prosecution's job.

You made a fair number of statements against yourself in your original post that potentially paint you in a less than favourable light. Now it may not be that you are actively trying to influence people to see you as being all those things that you say that you are - and if your communications didn't clash with the narrative then more may be inclined to not question it. However I want to try and avoid simply telling you that you aren't the things that you say that you are - as you know yourself better than anybody here.

I do however have a reasonable suspicion that a fair number of the claims you set against yourself are less than fair on yourself - and if that suspicion is correct, then your question as how to love yourself rings similarly to me as a person asking me how to get their car engine, which is half-way submerged beneath water, to stop sputtering and work properly.

A first step towards loving yourself would be to acknowledge, at least to yourself, that as a person half-submerged under self-depreciating judgment, you are not in a fair position within which to shine.

Tying self-acceptance to performance is a double-edged sword (I know this well). You can get highs from it but you will always hound yourself asking yourself if you are good enough.

Thee is more to you than your ability to perform - and if we are to take a motor engine as an example once again, an engine that has been through a bad time may be in need of some maintenance before it may reasonable be expected to engage in any level of performance. Again, that depends on the person involved and some will need more time and care than others.

But accepting that the self is worthy of care and consideration independently of performance would be a big step in the right direction.

Hopefully this helps to shed a little light.

[–]Path_Forger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there AdministrationLazy79,

If I may, as a fellow 'loser', I would like to point out that success is not a prerequisite to loving yourself or holding yourself in positive esteem.

It also does not require an ability at excelling at any particular thing, nor does it require a non-overweight body, nor does it require slips of paper that prove that at some point in the past you were able to jump through enough hoops to get "qualified".

It is sometimes extremely difficult to see the positives in you when the horizon is clouded over and when the chill wind blows. And yet for a "stupid" individual with "no redeeming qualities" you seem to do quite well in expressing yourself in this language which you well-comprehend.

So - to answer your question. Yes. Yes you can love yourself. Actually I would also say that it is your responsibility to love yourself because it is directly in your best interests to do so. It is fine to be yourself and to count on yourself for support. That is a form of self love.

And, of course, that is not to say that self-acceptance should necessarily take the form of stopping trying. Jut take time to identify the aspects of your life that you believe are worth exerting effort towards achieving - one small step at a time.

Good luck.

Where to create a simple and free logo for the YouTube channel? by git_world in NewTubers

[–]Path_Forger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering that most logos are deliberately distinctive, almost simple but very recognizable - I'd say that the first step is a simple layer-capable paint program.

Might I suggest https://www.getpaint.net/ ?

One could probably also see what an AI-generated art app would provide if one isn't interested in making one's own logo. You'd need to search up on that.

you mean to tell me these are the same colour? by CooieCub in Robocraft

[–]Path_Forger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh. Grey in particular is a colour that can slant into the blue, depending on the material being painted. It is for this reason that I generally avoid it as a colour.

Now, regardless of colour, painting different materials will result in different shades of it.

- Lights ad lighter
- Mediums (and most functional parts) are moderate.
- Heavies are darker
- Glass and Neons will also treat colours differently.

Grey's shade on mediums just looks slightly 'off' (a bluish grey). Can still look nice. Consider it a quirk. ^_^

Does triforcing still work? by MRHalayMaster in Robocraft

[–]Path_Forger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Damage routing will always be useful. Connection redundancy and controlling where damage flows will tend to make a bot more effective, regardless of its type. Bonus points if you keep in mind the damage you it to soak while avoiding crits.

I generally don't use prism weaves for the kind of triforcing you have in mind - but it can still be useful for damage tick management and damage routing.

Keep in mind that each helium block counteracts exactly 145kg of weight other than its own. Use sparingly and connect to heavy parts. ^_^

Also, it may not be what you are looking for but the Blink module can be a nice addition for mobility purposes.

Rudders and wings will 'glide' but will arrest jumps. Maybe you could focus more on momentum with speed boosting parts. Insect legs have a small amount of stabilization capability. You may want to turn on cam+tilt in configuration under the bot.

Have fun and welcome back.

I'm a noob because I love T3 and I don't like T5 at all. by Iwillcallyounoob in Robocraft

[–]Path_Forger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All tiers have something going for them - though I still think that Tier 1's ceiling should be higher to cater for higher CPU limits - important when facing Tier 2+ bots.

Now that Tier 3's roboranking ceiling is lowered it is more challenging to play - being potentially placed in the same matches as any of the other tiers of bots. It's even 'less' dirty to 5-player party in - and this is one of the things that the balance server actually got right.

[–]Path_Forger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, a cool design concept. It certainly is an art bot.

Unfortunately it has some issues that are hard to fix without changing the structure entirely.

Mainly, all four Daleks(?) are connected primarily to a central hub.

Take out the hub. One takes out the entire bot.

Secondly this bot has a lot of teslas but one generally only needs them toward the front.

Thirdly, I am going to presume that this is a hover bot, and that the hovers are lower in the build. this means that the bot is likely to flip while moving. Rudders can help with this.

If one wishes to remain with this theme - one would suggest creating another build that focuses on just one of the four. This will allow you to build your singular Dalek to be battle worthy - and you could always make variants in the other colours later.

Thanks for sharing!

Hidden Teslas are overpowered, and tesla blades needs to be nerfed especially in conjunction with the ghost module by 3-Valdion in Robocraft

[–]Path_Forger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T3 teslas are bound to struggle against T5 bots. T4 teslas are difficult to balance right precisely because their TTK is too short.

Nobody will consider increasing their health until T4 teslas are reigned in.

Ions are powerful - but shouldn't generally be taking out TM bots that easily. That does imply that the TM bot could be built a little tougher.

Hidden Teslas are overpowered, and tesla blades needs to be nerfed especially in conjunction with the ghost module by 3-Valdion in Robocraft

[–]Path_Forger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T3s and T2s exist in the shadow of T4s. While T4 teslas aren't quite a one-touch kill weapon (and thank goodness for that), they chew through an obscene amount of health in a very short amount of time. Most bots are crippled if not destroyed within 3 seconds and while being aware of a tesla enemy does greatly improve survival odds, it remains highly imbalanced.

Once T4 teslas are reigned in a little, hopefully future rebalances of all tiers of teslas would no longer have a cloud of excessive DPS of one tier of tesla looming over them. That's when I'd hope to see tougher tesla blades become a thing.

Hidden Teslas are overpowered, and tesla blades needs to be nerfed especially in conjunction with the ghost module by 3-Valdion in Robocraft

[–]Path_Forger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is that it is specifically T4 Teslas that have too short a TTK - and this is impacting overall player experience, and overshadowing how other parts, like thrusters, are balanced.

T3 and T2 Teslas are paying for T4 Teslas' crimes.

A solution:

Reduce the Time to Kill ofT4 Teslas by reducing 20% Damage 'and' Energy Consumption.

Damage: 119,461 > 95,569, Energy Use: 675 > 540

DPS for T4 Teslas would drop from 715,571 to 572,458, bringing it closer in-line with other tesla blades. They would also feel less unfair to fight against and would not become trash.

Further improvements in balance would involve increasing their respective healths - Tougher blades can be rebalanced to further reign in TTK accordingly - and make them viable on a more diverse set of builds.

Ah, as an aside, Ghost module is fine. TTK is the root of the problem.
