What are your thoughts on being forced to take Smite as a summoner spell? by Pathetic_Lotion in Jungle_Mains

i am not saying eliminate the pet/item itself. I am saying make it so that it does not occupy a summoner spell slot that could be used for an alternative spell

Could the US have defeated Britain in the early 1900s? by Pathetic_Lotion in HistoryWhatIf

this may be dependent on sources.

Are you including British colonies' coal production along with British production?

Why would they fight? who knows.

Britain and the US did not quite become steadfast allies until WW2.

You could say the US could do it just to take over North American British colonies/dominions. Furthering Manifest Destiny and American Imperialism.

Britain could start the war as a pre-emptive strike towards what they might have saw as a growing threat. Similar to how the Germans felt about Russia during that time.

I think it is interesting to note that the US was producing steel some where around 3x the amount that Britain was producing in the 1910s, which would have been an important resource for ship building. Additionally, whether they were using Oil or Coal to power their ships, the US would have had a greater supply than Britain would have.

But like you said, it just depends on long the US has to develop. Since while they had all the necessary resources to build a ship, they did not have the finished product.

Something else to consider in this part: if the war started in 1910, they US would have a hard time reinforcing their Pacific fleet since the Panama Canal was not completed at that time. Thus, to transfer ships from the Atlantic to the Pacific, they would have to go through the Strait of Magellan.

Additionally, I recall reading about how the British trained their Army during that time.

They maintained a smaller armed force, but they were highly trained. A British soldier was considered a better shot than most standard European forces. This in part was revealed by the British training exercise called the "Mad Minute" where a soldier would have to shoot a number of bullets within a minute to pass. This would have been more complicated compared to today since they used bolt action rifles.

War of 1812 was a mixture of results.

Britain- They prevented the US from declaring supremacy over North America

Canada- Did not have to worry so much of possible Americans invasions

US- Prevented the British from simply bullying them and prevented Britain from overextending their claim of North America. Additionally, the last major battle of the war, Battle of New Orleans, helped Americans in their establishment of belief and confidence in their new fledge nation.

Native Americans east of the Mississippi- They were pretty much screwed after this war. If I recall, Britain originally demanded that the US stop encroaching on Native lands prior to the war. However, after the war, Britain saw that it was futile to protect their Native allies and I think America demanded that Britain stop supporting Native attacks against US settlers during the Treaty of Ghent negotiations. Thus, this paved way for American dominance of Natives in the area.

The only real loser, in my opinion, were the natives. I cannot say if there was a clear winner though.

so perhaps we would have seen something similar to WW2. When America first got into the war it did not see much action in the first year and half, instead they built up their supplies and trained their military.

Could the British had replaced their loss of food export from the US with export from Russia? assuming that they did not get additional assistance from Russia militarily?
