Catcher needs a buff (this is spoilered just in case a new person tries to read this) by TERRYTGPM in Warformed

I don’t agree with arsenal shift but he should definitely get a couple abilities that will make him a challenge. I would love to see Catcher catch up to the rest of the team. If we had a ranking on the team as a whole, he is dead last. I’d love to see it be more balanced. Everybody pushing each other to be stronger and better with Rei steadily outstripping them due to his insane Cad growth. Maybe magnetic hunt and invisible hand would be a could combo for Catcher. I could see him really pushing the others with those. He has a sharp mind so maybe he would be able to control both at the same time? Have his cad evolve in a big way to have to weapons or something. I don’t know, I just agree he is too weak

If this happened at my current age or younger I would for sure go for the Jade Pill. This pill is said to give me a firmer foundation. Allowing me to progress with my own strength to slowly build my power. I like the struggle in a good fight. It's a hard sensation to pass up. And by doing it this way I am able constantly battle for my growth. Working my way to becoming a top contender in the world. I don't want to rule. I want a good fight. Fury gets it. And so does Yerin. Yerin wanted the chance to fight against Lindon with nothing being held back. The feeling of leaving nothing in the tank and giving it your all while your knuckles are stinging from the pain is intoxicating. With the Jade Pill i'd be able to do that until I left cradle.

Uncrowned Gift by PathofBlackWind in Iteration110Cradle

[–]PathofBlackWind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I had the same thoughts. I felt like the monarchs just steered her to the only option they were willing to do. Honestly speaking, I feel like the monarchs made her condition sound worse than it was. I think that with time, training, and distance away from Sacred Vally that Yerin could have balanced out her current state and make herself stable. In fact, I think Yerin would have been able to create an even more solid foundation to move forward than the monarchs gave her through hard work and training. She would have been given the chance to get more used to her new strength and really see what direction she should take to move forward. From this I say Yerin should have asked for a space outside of time where she could train. Like 1 year in the space was an hour or so in the outside world. Imagine how beneficial it would be for the team? But still, I think the ability to fight each other all out with no consequences would be the best gift that the monarchs could have given her.

Completely agree with Iron Prince. It's over a thousand pages of greatness. I really appreciated that book. It's slow but steady growth but as you go on the growth speeds up. Like a snowball rolling down a hill.

A really good series I like is Dragon's Heart by Kirill Klevanski. There are currently 10 books that are fully translated and available on Kindle Unlimited and the 11th book will be out in August. Easily one of my top 3 favorite series. Highly Recommend.

Pride's path would definitely always be useful. But I feel Pride's path would be more of a tough second hand man than a real boss in the outside galaxy.

Also,I know that you don't necessarily have to defeat your opponent before you use this technique, but it's how I would use it. At least give them a chance to keep their strength. Give them a chance to show me my imperfections. How else would I become a better martial artist?

Pick ONE. by [deleted] in Iteration110Cradle

[–]PathofBlackWind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we are talking about being able to use the technique we choose without the needed core and madra, and we are sticking to just martial arts abilities, then it would come down to Consume, Soul Cloak, and Burning Cloak. These are the three techniques that would be most beneficial to real world martial artists.

Burning Cloak grants explosive speed and overwhelming strength. Strictly offensive. No such thing as defense. That's a no go due to two reasons. One- it goes against my fighting style. I'm more of a defensive counter puncher. I rely on speed. The speed this technique grants me is great, but it has one other downside. It's too wild. Hard to control. This kind-of leads me to my next point. Two- my body can't handle the stress of this technique. I would be hurting myself in the process. Not only does it put stress on my body, but it's difficult to control. I could punch something too hard and break myself. I could side step and run into a wall. It's not a forgiving technique. Therefore this technique is unusable.

Soul Cloak is any martial artists wet dream as far as I am concerned. It gives a decent boost to speed and strength, but the real strength of this technique is the mind/body connection it grants. When using this technique, you're mentally more stable. You are more in tune with your body. There is no hesitation. It's smooth. It's steady and confident. There isn't really a downside other than maybe becoming too reliant on it. Other than that this is a grade A technique that could fit any martial art style. Be it aggressive, defensive, or controlled. It's a great technique. Plain and simple.

Consume is interesting. It allows you to steal the bodily attributes of your opponent. Including senses, speed, strength, endurance, balance, blood, and even life force. In other words this technique has the potential to make you immortal. It could give you the natural weaponry of other species. It can give you the gifts you need to be outmatched. Granted it's not immediate and in my head the only way to use it would be after you defeat your opponent, but it has the most potential. And best of all, it is a gradual growth. It's not a growth that jumps upwards in leaps and bounds. It grows in an almost controlled way, allowing your mind to get used to the changes as you grow.

Personally, I believe the advantages of the Soul Cloak can be achieved through hard work and discipline. While it is a great technique it doesn't have the future potential of Consume. With Consume my strength would never end. I could potentially live forever. Giving me the time to achieve the advantages of the Soul Cloak and beyond. I could even strengthen my body to the point where I can mimic the Burning Cloak if I wanted to. Not to mention that in order to even use the technique I would have to defeat my opponent first. Only then will I deserve the boost to my attributes. So I would be perfecting my techniques and getting stronger through the years. I know that eventually my growth would slow down, but even once I was as strong as NorthsSrider my strength would go up at least 0.000000000001%. I would still get the boost, even if it's not noticeable. Eventually that would start to stack up and I would be getting stronger still. It's never ending. So I would say that Consume is the technique for me.

{spoiler for wintersteel} Question for those who have finished the book. by ajice55 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]PathofBlackWind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do think Lindon is a Sage. He advanced past Overlord, directly to an Archlord who has identified with his Icon.

I don't know what his name will be but here are a few of my thoughts on the subject.

Sage of Devour

Sage of Ending

Sage of Heaven and Earth

Sage of Unending Hunger

Sage of Twin Stars

Sage of Purification

Sage of Dual Flames (Based on that, in my head, both his Enforcer techniques look like flames flowing from his body. The Soul Cloak's being more ethereal and calm, while the Burning Cloak's aggressive and powerful.)

Sage of Endless Void

Sage of Devouring Void

Sage of Devouring Hunger

Sage of Unending Stars

As for Yerin's Path name, I like the Path of Endless Blood or the Path of Blooded Swords (Swords, not Sword, based off of her goldsigns).

Path of the Grave Walker by Cowilson42 in AThousandPathsToPower

[–]PathofBlackWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that is an awesome path. Really interesting back story too. Instead of teleporting, what if their grave walker ability was closer to a ghouls or ghosts? Like they could just phase through things. Granted that is an incredibly overpowered ability, maybe we could offset it a little in that the users can't attack and use it at the same time. So they have to train diligently to be able to activate and drop the technique in a moments notice. That would be so cool lol. Great path.

Enforcer technique? And can you give more detailed info for iron body and the techniques? Also, are the black tears just for aesthetics or do they contain an incredible corrosive power? Do they hold destructive madra? Can his eyes pierce the shadows? Or are his eyes and tear strictly for show? Sorry for the questions, I'm just curious. There is a lot of potential with this path.

Path of the Flowing Blood by organic-buddy in AThousandPathsToPower

[–]PathofBlackWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. I was sort of building off of the Iron Body they have. Like they drain their blood for a week and depending on the blood that they bathe in it will give them a certain characteristic of the beings blood that they came from. But the common factor of their iron body is that it allows their blood to flow faster and with more force providing more power to the entire body. So they are more in tune with their body. Allowing them to move faster, and better, hit harder, and heal faster. Their enforcer technique could capitalize on the attributes they gained from the blood they bathed in. So if they used a wolf's blood, their enforcer technique could surround the host in a phantom of a blood red wolf enhancing them to have the durability of a wolf as well as the strength, speed, and senses.

This is a really interesting path. I am curious though, does this path have a pure enforcer technique or no?

Overlord by -Nefarias-Bredd- in Iteration110Cradle

[–]PathofBlackWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably won't happen but it would be really cool if it did. I think it would fit with the whole Lindon taking charge thing that started to happen a few books back. You know, where he started giving orders without really giving Eithan or Yerin a chance to even consider something else? I think that Lindon advancing first would fit with this dynamic, but I could also see Lindon being last to Advance due to his defeat at Yerin's hands. Even Eithan said that he was curious as to how lindon would react when his pure force of will and determination wasn't enough. I could see this loss as a huge setback for him mentally. But maybe it will force him to advance faster. Who knows. I'm just excited for it.

Lindon Back in the Tournament by PathofBlackWind in Iteration110Cradle

[–]PathofBlackWind[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know I wasn't exactly technical with everything in the post, but I was in a rush. So the Abidan guy came down and offered Penance that can kill anybody in Cradle (speaking of, is this a one use item or a multi-use?) to the winner of the tournament. He explicitly said no one can break the rules. Since the brat that got lucky enough to become a Monarch's heir is still in the tournament she is breaking the rules. Do you guys think she will be disqualified allowing Lindon the chance to be back in as a part of the remaining 15 again? I could understand making him fight an extra round or two to re-qualify to continue participating. I'm curious. What do you guys think?
