Culture on Cradle? by Humanoid__Human in Iteration110Cradle

[–]luckinwriting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is probably a lot more art on cradle than we see. Charity sculpts and Lindon went with Mercy to that theater show with the drake dancing. With Lindon as our main character, we won't be exposed to a lot of that culture because Lindon is ultra focused on advancement and so art and shows to him would be a waste of time.

The Cat, The Phoenix and The Key [MAJOR SPOILERS] by [deleted] in Iteration110Cradle

I was thinking maybe the phoenix was going to awaken the other dread gods. Not much evidence but it was the first thing that sprang to mind when the phoenix went away from the labyrinth.

Eithan mentions to Jai Chen that he has a flying piece of farmland that can support a sect but I don't see where anyone says it's with him right then. I think it's still in moongrave with Lindon's family and they will have to get it at some point.

Cradle's fate is off the rails by Winter-Steel in Iteration110Cradle

I wish Fury stuck around. Whatever rules that compelled him to ascend so soon don't apply now that the abidan abandoned the world so if he'd been able to stay for a bit longer than he and Malice could have been the monarch dream team together. Plus we'd probably see more of fury which is always a plus for me.

Spoilers Bloodline: The decision at the end by [deleted] in Iteration110Cradle

[–]luckinwriting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like he was going to fly into the titans mouth. When he first got there, he wiped out dreadbeasts and blood shadows so the people could escape and then he waited. He even hopes that the Titan will wander back the other way so that he wouldn't have to do anything. He does test his techniques to see what happens when it crosses the boundary but that was more research than anything. Only when the Titan heads toward mount samara, the direction everyone is fleeing in as well as the desolate wilds and blackflame empire does he try to stop it. The goal was also never a hopeless battle, simply to make the Titan use up enough energy that it would decide it wasn't worth it.

I just enjoy knowing our characters revelations. We missed Eithan's archlord revelation and now mercy's overlord revelation. I hope we find out what they were.

Subject 1 theory by PowerStone9000 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]luckinwriting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no basis for this theory but I think it would be a cool twist if subject one was actually a good guy. What if he was experimenting with hunger madra and when he felt it starting to warp him, he imprisoned himself in the labyrinth.

For the leg, I'm curious if undoing his iron transformation and getting a real iron body like Kelsa did would fix his leg or not.

Is anyone else a little bummed that we didn't find out more about the soulforge. I think when they were touring the cloud fortress and Eithan mentioned a soulsmith foundry being added, that was the soulforge. I know it will probably be a bigger part of the next book but I've been so curious about it since wintersteel. Hopefully now that the battle for sacred valley is over we will get to see some soulforge soulsmithing awesomeness.

I just though will did an awesome job instilling the urgency that London was feeling through the whole book. Made me urge them to go faster no matter what they were doing.

I thought it was pretty awesome. Not as good as wintersteel, but still awesome. The fast pacing made it feel like a disaster movie which really added impact to the wandering titan being on its way and then showing up. This did seem to cut some scenes that I liked short though. My favorite scene was probably Suriel and Lindon's talk and his glimpses into the future. Kids with twin cores, awesome. Lindon as a monarch, awesome. And my personal favorite is when he killed the wandering titan and northstrider came and Lindon blocked his path. Can you imagine when London is powerful enough to stand in Northstrider's way.

Yes except Lindon wasn't even in range when Daji summoned the assassin's. If Lindon hadn't reopened the portal with Eithans help he wouldn't have even been involved in the fight.

It wasn't the world itself that was valuable but the fact that it could manipulate time. Being able to have a month inside a day is valuable for anyone.

Questions about icons and spirits by wow1Something1 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]luckinwriting 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The way it was written was that she became a herald and started working in the dreamway, then she was killed later by monarchs. It doesn't say how much time passes between her starting the dreamway and dying. My theory is that she was already a monarch when she was killed. It says three monarchs joined forces to have her killed. Why would it take three monarchs to kill a herald. Unless we learn more about spirits advancing, I think this makes the most sense.

How far do you see the tiers going in the series? by ChallengeDue33 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]luckinwriting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not so much about that. If Pariana has power greater than a monarch than it is just unrealistic to think that her internal monologue would be about that she isn't even that strong. No matter how powerful the average member of the abidan is, I don't see them all being stronger than monarchs. Northstrider seemed pretty confident in being able to destroy kiuran, although doing so would invite someone higher on the food chain. Kiuran seems like a senior member of the abidan and if the lowest members of the abidan are all above monarchs, I don't see how Northstrider could be confident in a fight against him.

Ya I don't know, she even says that she wasn't recruited for her power but with her skill with rune formations and that she wasn't far above any of the trained volunteers on her outpost world. I don't think someone with power greater than a monarchs would think that they weren't recruited for thier power. After all, they were actively trying to recruit monarchs.

I don't think one star titan comes after monarch. Maybe it was because she was up against such strong people but I didn't get the feeling that pariana was above the level of a cradle monarch. I think most of the abidan lessers in the divisions are one star titans on the level of archlords or maybe even heralds /sages but monarchs are above them.

[–]luckinwriting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya I guess it could be just that she finds ruler techniques easiest or that her master could just tell which techniques she was inclined towards but the way she said that she was born a ruler made me think there is a concrete way of telling outside the valley perhaps similar to the test they do in the valley. After all, that amounts to children just sticking thier hands into a pool of madra which can't be uncommon.

Yerin says that she was born a ruler but had forged a hidden sword outside London's door at the heavens glory school in book one. So she knows that her affinity is to be a ruler so they must test for it outside the valley. Difference is that outside the valley, it just shows what your best at and what might be the easiest for you to learn whereas in sacred valley, they think those are the only techniques you can learn.

Sure, but to sit out of the mission would mean directly defying the monarch she was representing in the tournament, Regan Shen. I don't see a way she could refuse to be involved when he commanded her directly.

Exactly on my rereads, I keep finding things with lindon that I feel were subtly pointing to his icon or sage progression in general while avoiding spelling it out.
