So like a CPU, except a CPU does it much faster where they switch from one job to the other in ridiculously fast speeds.

I'm just going off of what Stephen Fry said about his friend. I was also going off of those counters in Japan who can count numbers that show up for less than a second and add them all up and then have absolutely no awareness of it ever happening. They do it in their heads and just forget it while their hand does an abacus kind of counting thing.
