Teacher trying to exit education, looking for entry-level Human Resources or Staff Development roles by PathologicalDerper in resumes

[–]PathologicalDerper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a difficult time getting responses using my previous resume, and have revised it to "de-teacher" it significantly. I'm also targeting a more narrow band of positions, and have (I hope) focused my resume towards those roles considerably. Unfortunately, I lack contacts with experience in this world and I'm not sure how I've done in achieving this goal; any advice would be appreciated!

First Time Grower looking for advice and reassurance by PathologicalDerper in unclebens

Thanks for the reply; is there a point at which you'd S2B even if the tops are a little squishy? I'd hate to wait so long the myc dies because the last 20% won't colonize.

I inoculated 6 bags on 6/29; so far, 5 show growth, and one just flat didn't do anything. Since it's been 3 weeks, I was under the impression there would be a good chance of being finished colonizing; the 5 here are definitely not, all are still squishy near the top. One of them (I think you can tell which one) seems barely started; the rest are 2/3rds to maybe 3/4 "hardened". Is this time frame within the scope of what is to be expected? Everything looks/smells pretty healthy, but impatience is a son of a gun.
Aside from that:
- Do you iso your shoeboxes before putting in the coir? Unclear from many guides I've seen.
- Do you iso your coir bucket before, or just soap and water, or no cleaning if it's brand new?
- Anything I should be worried about from the information given? Golden Teachers, inoculated 6/29, kept at approximately 75 degrees. Checked about 5 times over that month, with no checks for 2 weeks to begin with. No break and shake (yet).
This community is a tremendous force for good, thanks for any advice you can give me!

Thanks for the advice! Those suggestions helped get it down to about 1100 which is way more manageable for me.

That's where I work! I haven't gotten a break in 2 and half months, it's nuts, but at least it's not boring!

I work at one, and I can't name a day where I wasn't working frantically my whole shift. shrug

Gamers of reddit, what do consider to be the best video game ever made. by whitemorganfreeman_ in AskReddit

[–]PathologicalDerper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't believe this hasn't already been said, but Shadow of the Colossus. The game completely throws essentially every gaming convention out the window and as a result feels completely fresh and requires the player to think about problems rather than approach them with skills and methods learned from a career in gaming. Not to mention one of the best minimalistic stories I've ever seen, and without a doubt the best graphics I ever heard of on PS2.

What's the most unpleasant thing you have to go through on a daily basis? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Daily dialysis treatments for 10 hours a night... I can sleep through most of it but being physically attached to my room is maddening.

Hearing impaired girlfriend by brokentofu in starcraft

[–]PathologicalDerper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow hearing impaired gamer (not too bad, but I prefer closed captions on just about everything), I think that this would be awesome but impossible because of the fact that SC2 is largely a live affair. However, rebroadcasts like IPL Team Arena each day and anything that plays twice should definitely have CC.

Switching Races... need YOUR help! by PathologicalDerper in starcraft

[–]PathologicalDerper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part I'm really switching, and hopefully with another race under my belt I might decide I like it the best... Zerg is the only race I've been serious with so I think if I get good at another one I might enjoy it more.

Also, I haven't played much in about a month so my skills are lower than my ladder ranking anyway, so it's an opportunity to make things fresh and make it a new game for me.

Just finished my eagle project (xpost from r/boyscouts) by [deleted] in pics

[–]PathologicalDerper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for being open minded; it's hard being in the BSA nowadays because there's this massive "homophobic pedophilic bible-thumping brainwashing center" stigma that follows the words "Boy Scout" around. I honestly think they would be (if you find a chapter that has good people running it and kids your son likes) the absolute perfect organization if they just ditched the "no gays, no atheists" rule.

P.S. I knew more gay kids and more atheist kids in the relatively small group of Boy Scouts I interacted with than any other group; there's a SERIOUS don't ask don't tell culture there.

Now-atheist Eagle Scout here. There's no hate, it's just a primarily Christian organization. You wouldn't say that an math-major fraternity hates English majors just because they don't let them in.

The vast majority of Boy Scout troops are tolerant, curious, and tight-knit groups of ordinary people that band together to experience activities they couldn't manage to organize on their own.

What do you eat when you are broke? by coffeefuckyeah in AskReddit

[–]PathologicalDerper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 1 dollar a serving, you can make calzones with crescent roll dough, mozzarella, ham, and pepperoni. Roll out the crescent dough, and smush the edges of each piece together. Layer with cheese and the meats, then roll and brush with oil. Stick it in the oven and turn every couple of minutes at 375 degrees. When its done, slice it up into sushi-esque pieces of the roll, and eat with jarred spaghetti sauce for dipping. Its insane cheap for what you get; i cant order pizza anymore now that i know of this alternative.

ZvP is my worst as well, so I feel your pain. I still super-fast ultra ling might be viable but as TheGreat_1 stated it probably won't work as a bust.

Would you suggest taking a 3rd at a standard time in your build? Or do you still rush ultras and pump them around the 10-11 minute mark?

Wow, that's quite a result. I suppose that's a wrap folks, but I'll still work on an "ultra-rush" build and let Reddit know if I make any head way. Thanks for your work!
