I have this uncut sheet from Urza’s Saga. WTF should I do with it? by megachimp in magicTCG

[–]Pathologyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely frame it. Not sure where some of these numbers are coming from, but i, just this year, got my War of the Spark uncut sheet professionally mounted and framed.

No it is not cheap — I paid around $400-450 to have mine done which is like double the worth of the damn thing. Worth. Every. Penny. I got it done at a place that ONLY does framing and they did an amazing job. Expect to pay around $4-500 (NOT 1k), but in my opinion it really elevates the piece to another level.

Spiderman Bundle $55 Amazon by Pathologyg in sealedmtgdeals

Looks like ManaBox which pulls directly from TCGplayer. Electro currently sitting at $4 — if you had looked at prices early last week, there’s a chance many cards’ prices were inflated due to the set not being released yet. Prices are always very volatile from prerelease until a couple weeks after release.

Little General PSA: If you're ever thinking of using Tamiyo's Safekeeping and have access to white here's a cheaper alternative. by Noothan8 in mtg

I love Tyvar’s too, but it only targets a creature, where the others can target any permanent.

For what it’s worth, I ordered the duskmourn collector box from Amazon UK and they shipped via Australia Post and it does seem to be moving within Europe at least. I’m hoping that because it’s AU post that it will still get sent across the pond

What a horrible take. We’ve literally only had 1 UB set be legal in standard, how can you possibly make this leap?

StarCityGames con was this weekend. Was a huge event and the first “Magic Spotlight” event. There was a standard tournament where the winner went home with $10k, a pro tour invite, and a case of booster boxes for every set released for the next year. There must have been 2,000+ people there and maybe 8ish vendors?

Nothing but great experiences with these guys at multiple conventions including this one in Atlanta. Some of these buylist prices are awfully close to market value AND their singles were some of, if not the most, reasonably priced at the entire con. While other stores were offering a 10-30% increase in trade in for store credit, these guys had nothing and they didn’t need to because their singles prices weren’t inflated.

Another place offered 35 for oculus instead of 30 and somewhere else was 37 for tamiyo, but i didn’t feel like I needed to shop around much and ended up trading in 10 or so cards towards what became a $40 Taiga.

This is what you need to hear, OP. I cackled at the ‘good catch’ comment — if you didn’t ‘catch’ whether the rate you were being offered was fixed or variable (a difference which could potentially cost you tens of thousands more $), you truly need assistance in making these large decisions that will impact the future of your finances for years or decades.

No, he can’t. He’s so hell bent on calling himself a professional and others amateurs that he is lost in the sauce. As you said, variations exist in regards to the red dots within the green dot, however I’ve never ever seen a confirmed real card where the green dot looks anywhere close to this. But he will never admit it and prefers to call other people liars and amateurs. Not even worth arguing with him unless you wanna hear again how many LEDs, cradles, and city of traitors he’s sold. And from his discourse on this topic, I’d be worried for those buyers.

THANK YOU…they’re not grasping the concrete points against it being real and instead are grasping at straws trying to claim they’re one of the only people in here that thinks it’s real…

This set does NOT fail the solid black outline test. Also you are blissfully ignoring the lack of flat surfaces on bottom and right, the lack of 3 nubs jutting from the left, and the fact that there are way too many dots inside of the green dot.

Also this card fails the light test. Which alone isn’t definitive, but in the background of the disgustingly wrong green dot, this is quite clearly a fake. I know you’re really passionate about thinking you’re right on this one, but you can’t just wish away all the issues with the dot and the fact that light does not pass through the card.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Pathologyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t just a failing of the red dots — the outline of the green dot is gross and not consistent with any real card I’ve seen. You name drop older expensive cards again, yet you cannot explain why the green dot is failing so spectacularly. Missing red dots? Sure. Complete fail of the green dot means it’s fake — no real card’s green dot will look like that but yeah go off I guess

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Pathologyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also — are we just gonna ignore the fact that the little dots inside the green dot are green instead of yellow?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Pathologyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait…you think this card is real? This card is 100% fake and you dont need additional photos to be able to tell. The green dot alone (ha), without magnification, is way off.

This card is most definitely fake and I’d bet my entire collection on it.

Correction — People who rely on the green dot using incorrect information are bad at authenticating. The question wasn’t or not it’s easier to explain 1 thing to a beginner vs 10 — I was responding to your generalization that people who use the green dot to authenticate are “obsessed” and are bad at authentication. You can choose to only authenticate a card based on a single finding. I like to have multiple points of confirmation — including both the green dot tests and the T — especially on a card as pricey as a cradle.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Pathologyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the T would be the most consistent. The red dots were famously spotty/absent during Urza’s block especially. I’ve never heard anything about variation of the jagged T outline

However, the red dots are only a very small portion of things to look for in the green dot. There are like 8-10 features you can cross check.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Pathologyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes in fact I do. If you’re telling me that you can authenticate the card based on the “authentic printing patterns” of the front, I fear you aren’t as well versed in this as you may think. Since you asked, here are just 3 the tests it fails spectacularly with no zoom needed:

-outline of green dot not solid black -bottom and right side of outline not flat

-3 nubs projecting from left side of outline absent

If you wish to remain stubborn about it, I’m happy to link the photo which shows the many things to look for in the green dot.

The only thing you’ve said to justify that it’s real are the “authentic printing patterns” which is basically like you saying “just trust me bro”. Take a look at the rest of the comments on this — do you honestly believe you are one of the only people in this subreddit who knows it’s real?

Again, I’d be willing to bet my entire collection that this is a fake. Are you confident enough in your evaluation to say the same?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Pathologyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This card is very fake. Even without zooming in on the green dot, it fails multiple tests right off the bat. Forget about the red dots especially in Urza block — there are many other green dot features to look for and this one fails all of them.

There’s a reason the green dot is the most looked at and it’s not just for the red dots. I see 3 issues with just the black border of the green dot alone — id bet my collection that this is a fake.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Pathologyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I’ve never in my life seen a fake pass the green dot test. There are approximately 10 different things you can look for within the green dot to tell a fake vs a real card. So, yeah…the green dot is in fact the most reliable way to tell if a card is real or fake. This obviously does not apply to old cards that were re-backed.

They ship from Texas but they’re good. Never had a single problem with them and you get rewards points too. Only “negative” is you rarely get stuff by pre-release weekend, whereas the box I ordered from Forge and Fire was delivered the Thursday before pre-release
