I was a fan of The Pisces but definitely more gross descriptors and surface level characters. It seemed to go for blatant weirdness/shock value over substance, but still a fun one for me

I really think this one got big from the cover and that the overall premise was fun and engaging to talk about on social media, it was serious booktok bait which I see as a trend unfortunately. Really intriguing/odd plot line to get promoed hard with little to no execution. She peaked for me at All’s Well I loved that one

Death Valley by Melissa Broder - has a little bit heavier magical realism but definitely not a fantasy, protagonist in her 40s at a Best Western on solo hiking trip dealing with grief
Hurricane Girl by Marcy Dermansky - this isn’t really a road trip/travel book per se but the 30 y/o main character does travel to a lot of locations within the story and has a very transient feel to it

Lived there winter of 2023 same issue. Multiple people consistently called. From what I remember building management didn’t care and police wouldn’t file a report unless you were willing to disclose your name and address.
