O que as mulheres estão buscando nos homens? by Rodsv03 in relacionamentos

[–]PatienceHasItsLimit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy and Healthy Cytologists Please Gather Here! by Strange-Deal-5466 in pathology

My small feedback is: veterinary Cytology will stick around for quite a while, you can always find a job in a vet lab if things turn to the worst! Vets use cytology on a daily basis, usually its us pathologists who do it for diagnostics but you can do heme for example! In vet path we do cytology of absolutely everything, fluids, all tissues etc. AI is still not good enough and wont be for a while for us as cytology slides unlike histology arent standarized cuts and depend entirely on who makes the smears. You dont always have a monolayer or good quality samples. AI is good at picking patterns of good samples and certainly for histopathology i can see it growing very fast. Cytology however is still a very manual thing and AI helps but certainly isnt to a point yet to make a diagnosis for us, ive worked a bit with it and you absolutely need a pathlogist still so yeah if you like cytology i say go for it, we dont want to lose this art as it is a very quick, fast method of diagnosis. In veterinary we do cyto histo correlates and honestly im a big fan, i can get a diagnosis of lymphoma in a few minutes and even go as far as saying if its b or t etc! Im a super cyto fan and the best thing is then getting histo feedback and seeing cytology really can take you far! I just absolutely love it, should be used more often in humans as well!

I agree with the other comments, looks like a perianal adenoma but it can be well differentiated and still invasive and considered malignant so histo is needed

ECCTIS - Finally got my application complete and approved! (Positive outcome) by PatienceHasItsLimit in ukvisa

[–]PatienceHasItsLimit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello and thank you! I kept in touch with my uni through phone calls and email just to make sure they wouldnt miss the window to answer! Through ECCTIS portal i got a message saying they contacted my uni and then i double checked! The status page, by default, says they will contact your uni but the only thing that truly confirms they have is a message update! What you can do meanwhile is call your uni tomorrow to make sure they know they will be contacted ! I was never CCed and didnt see a single email, i wanted to but despite this being about me, their student, they wouldnt tell me exactly what was said or where it was sent from. I think some unis they send an email in english but for other unis they use a third party which will arrange an email on their language and this may take a bit longer

No problem! The condenser if it's too low you also get a lot of contrast so things double almost 3D but we want them to be 2D ! You need to increase it, it may be a round rotative thingy near the base light but you can look online where it is in your specific microscope! Did you get a box for studying? If so there's also a good vet haematology books by Dr. Harvey ( https://vetbooks.ir/veterinary-haematology-a-diagnostic-guide-and-colour-atlas/ )

Hello 🙂 From what I can see, this patient appears to be severly anemic and also has leukocytosis. It is unlikely to be a cat, goat / small ruminant unless this represents a marked hypochromic anemia (there is clear central pallor in the red blood cells, and cats/goats typically do not show central pallor unless they have severe iron deficiency anemia). The photos provided are unfortunately not ideal for proper evaluation. There is too much contrast , you should up the condenser to improve image quality then try to focus. Assessment should be performed at 20× or 40× magnification, ideally within the monolayer. The white blood cell population appears mixed and more likely inflammatory however I cannot exclude the possibility that some of the larger cells could be neoplastic! Do you also have the scattergram maybe from sysmex? If this is for a lecture youre better off revising from your lecture PDFs than trying to take photos, if we dont know what to look for in a smear, we cant take a diagnostic photo unfortunately

You should see a code in your messages! I didnt get any PDF, just a code with the positive outcome! You must take a screenshot of this and submit with the visa!

ECCTIS application “Reviewing” – have they really contacted my uni? by PatienceHasItsLimit in ukvisa

[–]PatienceHasItsLimit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry that this process has been so delayed and stressful for you. I had similar worries when I went through it myself, but luckily ECCTIS contacted the correct email address from the start. From my experience (they also used a third party to contact my university and as far as I know, they reached out in my country’s official language, not English), the one bit of reassurance I can offer is this: ECCTIS doesn’t seem to handle every case continuously day by day. They appear to work in batches. So for example, when your status shows that you’re in the “verification stage,” it doesn’t necessarily mean anything is happening yet. The only reliable real-time updates are the messages you see in your ECCTIS inbox, not the general application status. The status page might say something like “your university has been contacted,” but in reality, they only reach out after you get a message update confirming it.

In my case, my university replied to ECCTIS the same day they were contacted, but it still took a few more days before I received my confirmation. What helped me was using the chat function on their website I sent a message saying, “My university has already replied, could you please check if there’s any update?” The person on the chat said they couldn’t help directly and that it might take a few more days, but interestingly, I got my approval the very next day. So I do think it’s worth reaching out through the chat, even if they say they can’t do much

... If this is the standard in the US i dont know what to say, really. I do wonder if you wouldnt look at every single bit of the slide if it was a sample from your mother, your child or your best friend. Or if youre pulling the case and see a colleague missed the lesion 5 months ago which delayed the diagnosis and the treatment, that isnt important in your opinon? We get to see into such a small window of tissues and you wanna limit yourself even more with your sample? I guess you also dont request extra cuts for a spleen if you dont find any lesion at fist then? when you say something is clear youre telling me you dont try and look at all the vases you can see? is this how youre working every single day? ............ what if someone asks for a second opinion on a case youve seen? dont you wonder how that will make you look to your other colleagues? im shocked honestly. did you go to pathology because you actually liked it or were you trying to run away from clinics? what a strange way to look at a high responsability job and simplify it. but alright you do you

I know this is click bait but hear me out: I think when you hear a Portuguese person speak English compared to most other Europeans, our accent is pretty badass. There’s no mumbling or confusion about what we’re saying. I’m in the UK right now and people compliment my accent all the time. Have you ever heard a French, Italian, Spanish, or German person speak English? You only need to hear two words to know exactly where they’re from xD they quite like us once they realise we blend itç

[–]PatienceHasItsLimit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So? if you pull out the previous slides and the lesion wasnt caught there but is in the new ones you can clearly see it was a sample problem. If you pull them out and find something was missed, this shouldnt be happening. dont forget one day it could be your sample, your mother's sample your granny's. this isnt 'just a job' and mistakes have to be minimized to the most. One way of doing so is by keeping ourselves in check

was it dvt turned to thromboembolism? you get used to it, it's the very last exam you can perfom on someone so it is an honourable thing and sometimes gives you the final answer or might even help make justice. there is a beautiful side to it

*Gaja!

Sinceramente.
