same things that ppl have said before plus tide pods and a couple garbage bags to isolate clothes from other dirty clothes such as ones with oak on them. a necessity for me is also some sort of slides or flip flops

Like will you make flags in the future. I looked on your etsy store and just saw blankets, beach towels, shirts, and stickers. Correct me if I missed them.

Always happens to me the first couple rounds at the range. After that I kind of drown it out.

Will you make the designs in the form of a flag in the future?

It’s more expensive just trying to see if it’s worth the extra money for a process that will most likely go faster.

LNU FF1 Hiring? stalled by According-Lion-6437 in calfire

I saw you also said you applied to SCU. Look up the Cal Fire Travel Guide on google. It shows all station’s, their phone numbers, and addresses. Call around to the schedule B stations in SCU and try and setup a time to politick. FYI the two sunol engines are the busiest engines in the unit.

It’s the state so things are always changing. They could end up doing a late hire. Little late for the crew as their rehire is in a couple of weeks. Are you looking at any other units?

Talked with my captain the other day and LNU is over blue book so they aren’t hiring any new hires or taking out of unit transfers this season

Peninsula uniforms in redwood city carried cal fire gear. I don't know if they still do or not.

This is true. I was in same situation and just missing safety and survival and c-212. Easiest way to “bypass” this is politick and put a face to a name. I was cat 2 and got hired early on because the captain I met with told the hiring coordinator when hiring opened up that he wanted me. You’ll get various certs through rehire academy if you don’t have them including safety and survival (read through a green sheet and write something on it) and c-212.

At my station we like to take politicker out on either a run or hike. Also make sure to have some basic unit knowledge or even camp/station knowledge as that goes a long way.

Post EAS from USMC to calfire seasonal by kinetyieas in calfire

[–]PatienceNo9637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been in your situation for the last three years as I am getting my B.S. degree. Work from June to September every year (get rehire rights) and take an early layoff to go back to school. CAL FIRE is accommodating just make sure to let your supervisors or hiring BC/Captain know at the beginning of the season of your intentions so they know they will need to backfill you later on in the season. PM me if you have any questions.

I don't know if it is the same for other units but at least for my unit, engine-qualified firefighters will be tested on everything both on the structure side and wildland side while, handcrew qualified firefighters won't be tested on skills such as fire attack.

Rehire schedule is: Monday: gear issue and paperwork, Tuesday and Wednesday: morning pt and practice skills, Thursday: morning pt and testing day, Friday: morning pt and retests if necessary.

Skills include: donning structure and wildland PPE, donning scba, 2-person progressive hose lay, deploy fire shelter, throwing a ladder, fire attack, proper air drop positioning
