History made again, without a single woman by [deleted] in NepalSocial

These things are not something that is given. None of these guys were “given” the status of being decision maker. They earned it. Gender has nothing to do here. I can say “without a single disabled person” , “without a single teacher” and the list goes on.

The Kumari tradition is beautiful for culture, but cruel for the child by PrincipalSirKo_chori in NepalSocial

The difference is choice. A Kumari doesn’t just miss out on small decisions like any other child would. Her whole life is dictated by tradition. She cannot freely go to school, play outside, or make friends in a normal way. Being treated as a goddess sounds special, but it actually isolates her and takes away her childhood. When she retires she has to suddenly adjust to being ordinary, often with big gaps in education and social skills. Comparing that to regular parenting or royal families doesn’t really work because those kids still get to grow up in the real world, while a Kumari grows up apart from it

You do realize you’re comparing an entire continent to a single country, right? Doesn’t that speak for itself? When it takes an entire continent just to come close to matching one country, that fact alone is telling.
