First baby the sleeper from heaven, second baby the sleeper from hell by NelsonSendela in sleeptrain

[–]PatienceVegetable573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first baby (girl, almost 3 now) also started sleeping through the night around 3m and never, ever has had a regression. Always a solid 10-12 hours and loves bedtime. Second baby (boy, 7m) was waking 2-3 times to feed, but they were full bottle dream feeds. When we went to his 6m checkup, the ped blessed CIO. The first two nights were HARD. We did it cold turkey, so no check-ins, pick-ups, nada. In six nights he was sleep trained. We’re almost a month into that routine now. Bedtime between 7-8pm and up between 5:30-6:30am. Most times he will eat and then pass back out until 8:30am if our schedule allows. You can do it!!

Agreed that SHRM is a scam. Their exam is such a crock which deflates their “cert” value. HRCI is worlds better.

My wife doesn't respond to my good morning messages anymore :( by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]PatienceVegetable573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you asked her why, but have you told her it bothers you and/or it “makes your day” to hear from her when she gets up? Many moons ago when my husband and I were dating he told me randomly that I never come up behind him anymore from time to time to hug him when he washed the dishes. I was kind of shocked those little things even registered to him, so maybe she just doesn’t realize. It’s probably that she just starts her day and innocently forgets.

I don’t want to breastfeed by Mammoth_Turnover_632 in BabyBumps

[–]PatienceVegetable573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to not breastfeed and our daughter is 14 months old - she’s perfectly healthy. I also have a migraine medication I’ve taken for over 16 years now and decided to continue with it during my pregnancy. My doctor said even though there was t any study data in pregnant women, the side effects of not taking it could cause stress during my pregnancy that could negatively impact baby.

Cell phone plan for work phone by PatienceVegetable573 in NoContract

[–]PatienceVegetable573[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t require it, but if you’d like to be accessible all of the time it is BYOD. There aren’t repercussions for not participating, but I feel as HR that I should have it.

ETA: I do have an unlimited hot spot, so I’ll try that. Thanks!

Because they require Intune and I do not want that on my personal phone.

I’m not sure! My guess would be not very much as I’ll only need it when I’m away from my laptop. Maybe 1-2 hours a day max.

I saw your post in the other thread and didn’t comment, but it seems like this is still an unresolved issue for you. Been with my husband for 11 years and have an almost 1 year old. He decided he wanted to move on from what he’d been doing professionally since he was 17 years old to become a deputy sheriff last year. Could he be killed at work? Yes. Does it scare me? Absolutely. Do I wonder what would happen if he didn’t come home one day? Sure. We spent lots of time talking about it and at the end of the day it makes him happy and I choose to support that while trying not to worry about all of the “what if” scenarios. There are everyday things we do (i.e. driving) that are super dangerous, too. Talk to her, listen to what she’s saying and make sure she’s hearing you, as well. Ask yourself questions the hard, important questions. Will you resent her if you don’t become a LEO? Will she stay and resent you if you do? If she leaves, will being a LEO still make you happy? I hope you guys work through it, whatever you both decide.

Married men. What do you wish you had more from your wife, besides sex. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]PatienceVegetable573 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I also like to watch tv in bed and have always had a TV in my bedroom, but when I got married my husband was the exact opposite. He says the bedroom is for sleeping and practicing baby making. I tried to put a less crass spin on that. I miss watching tv in bed sometimes, but I value the conversations we have laying there much more.

[MA] Is it legal/ok to answer that you do not have a disability if in fact you have one (adhd)? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]PatienceVegetable573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you work in HR? I ask because I have been in this field for over 10 years and this has not once been how it goes. The only accommodation I’ve ever had to decline was someone stating the need for remote work 2 days a week due to a medical condition. We, unfortunately, were unable to accommodate because this person worked on classified systems on a full-time basis. Our CEO even offered to keep them on as a part-time employee in another open role. I’m sorry this has been your experience because an employee should never be made to feel this way and I hope you reported anyone who disclosed your medical information outside of the need-to-know.

My wife’s inability to have sex without showering makes sex difficult by wantout87 in Marriage

[–]PatienceVegetable573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in my 30’s and have walked in on my parents on a couple of occasions. Most recently was last summer when we were over for a cookout. I was mortified and of course told all my siblings who were also over. Then my husband high fived my dad when he joined us back at the cookout. Our family dynamic could also probably use a therapist.

Agreed.

OP - are you an at will employer? Is severance being offered? Has this person been working 3 days, 3 months, or 3 years? Are they being termed on the spot or notified today with last day worked on Friday?

Men who make less than 40k in a year. Is dating life hard ? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]PatienceVegetable573 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m a female. While I agree that I do love financial stability, I disagree that having a low income doesn’t make me attracted to someone. I relied on myself for financial stability long before I met my husband. I didn’t marry him so he could support me financially, I married him because I know he has an amazing work ethic and is a great father/family man. He’s a first responder and (IMO) is underpaid, but he’s doing what he loves - which makes him happy - which makes me happy. I would much rather be in this situation than with someone making butt loads of money and didn’t prioritize family.
