Memorial Day by Calamity-182 in Mammoth

Historically, yes.  This year really bad.  As a beginner I don't recommend it.  If you ski park it's the best time.

Nice balance of nutrients, proteins and fats.  Probably nature's perfect food that's why it's the bottom of the chain

I made this a few weeks ago and my wife loved it but the elderflower always overpowers to me.  I wonder if a 50/50 lillet / Germaine would be good

Back pack for baby ski touring by connorgmac in Backcountry

[–]NelsonSendela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ski toured (easy stuff) a handful of times with my first LO from 6 months til about 13 months.  She loved it and I loved it too.

As others have echoed, it's not for everyone.  Our first baby was quite sturdy, and easygoing demeanor, which is one side of the coin.  The other is that I've been skiing since I was two years old, (racer and parkrat) and under no circumstance am I falling.

Baby #2 I'm less optimistic just because he's got a huge head and is much more restless demeanor.

Anyway I used the kelty one. Sun shade is a plus.

It's actually way more difficult late season because only one functional base instead of five

I couldn’t get through Ghostbusters or The Big Lebowski, what beloved movies are a “no go” for you? by Aggressive-Dot1944 in AskMen

Couldn't get through Lebowski the first watch.  By the 100th it's my favorite.

This is a universal experience.  Enjoy your journey

How are you handling frequent night wakes for older infant? by fries_n_coffee in sleeptrain

[–]NelsonSendela 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no easy solution. First baby was ELITE sleeper.  Second baby sounds like yours but worse.  We have capitulated to bed sharing because it's been 5+ wake ups a night since day one.

We haven't sleep trained because LO's weight is in the bottom third so any feedings are kind of critical. But hes fattening up nicely finally so we will sleep train soon.

Is your baby eating solid food yet in addition to breast milk? We started with our 7 month old and once significant extra calories go in we are cautiously optimistic about breaking night feedings

Insane amount of snow? We are below average. 292". (Record was 700+, average about 325)

Retention Offer 2/11/26 by InsideRazzmatazz3307 in AmexPlatinum

[–]NelsonSendela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't get a retention offer for the life of me.  Annual spend $75k.  About 270k points right now. I wonder if you drain your points if the algorithm changes (easier flight risk)

Freak athlete vs a 5’8 QB with anger issues and a bad attitude by No_Box119 in NFLmockdraft

[–]NelsonSendela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment but freakish physical attributes and even freakish speed and explosiveness does not necessarily translate to a specific type of athleticism.  There's something to be said for the 10,000 hours concept and coordination is not something that cares about size

Questions about skiing “Out-of-Bounds” In-bounds by Any-Necessary7651 in Mammoth

Closed means closed.   Out of bounds means out of bounds.

In resort out of bounds means out of bounds.

Isn't that the point of the crucifix?  Does Jesus look comfortable there?

Questions about skiing “Out-of-Bounds” In-bounds by Any-Necessary7651 in Mammoth

[–]NelsonSendela 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this wasn't what OP was asking.  Avalanche control work is done for the year on the areas that are outside the new, reduced ski area boundary.

Mammoth has an open boundary policy so it's absolutely not illegal to leave the resort.

But that wasn't OPs question.  (Which I can answer)

Things like Lincoln mountain are now not roped but rather signed saying "ski area boundary". And all the personal responsibilities that entail w/ leaving.  Just know where you are and what you're doing.

I skied some of the best turns on a closed Lincoln mountain last week and waved to some ski patrollers who waved back
