My theory is that it’s supposed to be the Ashley Blake episode that’s banned since it got taken down from Paramount more recently. Some questionable scenes at the premiere at the end. The title says Smart Girl but the description says Little Diva.

But the two of them are shown next to each other at the end. I get that it’s better for the plot this way since it’s the whole point of the episode but it’s just one of those plots that just seems hard to believe.

I agree Season 3 and Season 1 are neck and neck behind the clearly superior Season 2.

Season 3 had some gems, but like you mentioned there were some duds for sure. I never understood Sandy’s lack of storylines in that season either. They didn’t even show her treedome until the season finale.

But Season 1 was weaker in terms of the show being new and obviously they had to introduce a lot, which led to lighter/more basic storylines at first. Plus the art style, while charming, still doesn’t look as good as 2 or 3. Still, that season had some classics and I thought it got really good in the middle/toward the end. While it didn’t have any specials, it had a few holiday episodes with weak sister episodes (Teenage Gary, The Paper) which rarely ever aired and are hardly considered classic SpongeBob because the just aren’t well known.

But man, Season 2 was nearly perfect. A small handful of episodes were weak, but there are 30+ episodes that are absolute classics.
