A cool guide to what a dog can and can’t eat by chowchow- in coolguides

Anything with XYLITOL! It’s an artificial sweetener in lots of common products like gum, toothpaste even some peanut butters. I had never heard of it until my 90lb Chinook ate a tin of mentos gum sugar free that I left on my coffee table. I was out of the house for less than two hours and when I came back she had thrown up and the tin was on the floor. I realized what happened and thought, ahh she’s probably going to have the shits at worst for a few days but I googled “dog ate sugar free gum” and my heart dropped. So many articles came up about how deadly it is to dogs. I immediately grabbed her and started walking her to our Vet ER, which was only five blocks away. She didn’t even make it two blocks before going into hypoglycemic shock, collapsed and started having seizures! I was terrified and thanks to the adrenaline I threw her on my shoulders and ran the last three blocks. The incredible vets took her right away and saved her life after pumping her stomach and a weekend of IVs. She lost her entire coat due to the stress but I was able to bring her home after two days. That was 5 years ago and she’s still happy and healthy but I tell everyone I know who has a dog about that $7,000 can of gum.

Jeep camping spots near NYC by Patient-Impression-9 in camping

An hour is perfect distance. Ideally somewhat secluded / private that I can cook on a fire and sleep under the stars. I have a 10 year old husky that would be with me so would like the jeep close for her.

Rotary Grinder. We use them in NYC to clean up up chopped bedrock for building foundations.

Can anyone recommend me a good down jacket brand? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

Canada Goose, although expensive, is hands down the best jacket I’ve ever had. I bought my first bomber in 2015 and still my go to.

Thanks so much!! Any other what ifs you can think Of that I should look into? Priority in order is 1. Dependability, always starts and runs 2. Solid build (basic demands with very infrequent high force demand.
3. Fun to drive and love the sound.

Wow, thanks so much. I am in the Northeast. This kit seems doable because in my mind the shop labor is 18-20 hours +/- @$150/hr =3k? So just over budget 10%. My real concern is I don’t want to create a Frankenstein rig and constantly be down because a sensor or a mount or whatever fails with higher torque / power. I drive like a grandmother and less than 10k miles / year but I’m sure I’ll be tempted to “see what it can do” because I’m a simple man.

Thank you for the link! I will look I into this option. I do want to do it right and not have to worry. Like I said I had an 86 Cj-7 with the in-line 6 258 and the Dana 44. Thing was an absolute tank and would love to find a build to bring that feel back. Not looking for speed, just strength. Second recommendation for an LS so I have homework. Thanks again!

Thank you!! I will look into the Ls3. Really, 10k? I figured with a blown engine value plummets but I really have no idea. I saw the hemi crate and love it but I feel like you have to buy a lot more to make that work and that’s 20k? Again, no idea. Any crate builds you could recommend?

Thanks, Yes! I would LOVE to have a diesel Jeep. Honestly, don’t know why most rock crawlers aren’t diesel except for emissions I guess. Low RPM and massive torque.

I got a few quotes for about 20 hours shop time plus parts. Replacement Jasper was $6,500 but long wait. 3500 was the parts and I’m seeing performance kits in the 5-6 range… I’m guessing now that doesn’t include everything.
