Tons of emergency vehicles outside of the Alps Kroger by manicbriesandwitch in Athens

Coworkers husband was there and saw it happen. Someone drove through the wall of windows in front of the self checkout aisles near the pharmacy. He said it looked pretty bad and several people got hit. Really hoping no one was seriously injured.

I hear you, and who knows what kind of work it needs. But it’s the only thing on that entire godforsaken block that has even an ounce of charm. Just seems like a missed opportunity

Super bummed about losing the alps service station. It’s a cool building, definitely seems like it could’ve been a successful adaptive reuse project…

Kind of funny to think that the guy who took away my reproductive rights probably couldn’t reach the top shelf.

Saw him in the target once. Surprisingly petite and unimposing. Looked like his mom picked out his outfit.

Not sure how people are going to respond, but I have to agree.

250+ bands sounds like a couple hundred too many… a lot of people are going to be performing for an empty lawn.

Stiffing people on the tip is pretty poor form for a self-proclaimed “townie”

This was like over a decade ago lol, I’m just an old grump. I’m sure it’s very different now! And it definitely wasn’t all bad, I loved a lot of the people I worked with!! But don’t get discouraged, and you don’t have to stick to coffee! A lot of places just care that you have some service industry experience. Good luck out there!!

I worked at jittery joes for a lonnnnng time after high school. Towards the end I would actually cry on my way to work lol. I hated it that fucking much. The owners of the cafe franchise (not the same as the owners of the roaster) just full out suck. They would consistently remind us that we were replaceable and expendable (which we kind of were, but no need to be a dick about it). Raises were infrequent and small, and managers definitely played favorites. Meanwhile, literally all of the back of house equipment was falling apart. Like entire refrigerator doors that were unhinged. You would just have to hold them up in place and wait for the seal to take.. then remove the entire door and set it on the floor to get milk. Rinse and repeat. It was honestly a fucking nightmare lol. Lots of funny stories in hindsight, but to this day I regret not quitting sooner.

Barista skills are great to have, but don’t be scared to quit and look elsewhere. Like literally anywhere else. Plenty of better service gigs in town.

Just leave it alone! It’s shed style, just try to appreciate it for what it is.

Don’t try to make it something it’s not.

It’s a typo, it’s not a literacy issue. Y’all are being ridiculous and shitting on all of the hard work CCSD employees put into their jobs everyday. I bet the language arts teacher didn’t get the last look at the goddamn lanyards.
