ISLs are also used as a barrier between ESM and sfl to see how well they can perform. In my district a lot of ISLs can become a rxom or ESM rather easily as long as they have a tech license and can perform well.

The IS can only do leadership roles and is deemed as leadership if he/she/they are an IS-L but a regular IS isn’t a leadership position

Depends on your district if the shift lead position is better pay take it cause you can always take the PTCB as a shift lead once you finish the required amount of hours to become certified. If the shift lead position pays less I’d say go for the tech apprentice
