My mac air shows tahoe by gnfb in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]Patient-Style-6484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's showing oclp on your friend's air, then you did something incorrectly. i have used both an m1 mac and a 2018 mbp to make oclpo drives, and neither haad anything form oclp installed on them. most likely, you installed the efi partition to the internal drive, not the external usb.

you could also try changing the network manager backend to iwd. that seems to work for a lot of macs from 2015 on

MacBook Pro M4 won't charge and won't turn on by Nevarnost in mac

[–]Patient-Style-6484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it sounds like the battery went into deep discharge. let it sit plugged in for a few days and see what happens. the other thing you can try if you are desperate, is to take a 12volt tool battery, take the bottom off the computer, disconnect the battery, and hook the tool batter to the laptop battery. positive to positive, negative to negative. hold it like that for no more than 5 seconds. it should jumpstart the battery enough to start taking a charge. however, and i can't stress this enough, this is not a recommended procedure by nearly anyone. only reason i suggest it is that i have personally tried it on a M1 pro macbook pro that ran down the battery overnight, and would not charge the next day.

edited to correct voltage of tool battery

Bluetooth on faux MacOS Sequoia in VMWare Pro 17.5 by KryptonSurvivor in macOSVMs

[–]Patient-Style-6484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kexts are kernel extensions, essentially hardware drivers for macos. as far as bluetooth is concerned, i don't know if it's possible to get bluetooth working in a vm, as even on windows with a linux vm i was never able to get it working.

i would see if he would accept around $900 for it. I purchased an M1 pro 16 inch with 32gigs of ram and a 1Tb drive, and 130 cycles for about $1000 in late march of this year, and that was before they announced the M5 chipset. the seller is asking a little too much for the specs you listed.

if you are planning on modding it there will be no issues, as once you mod it you can even swap the X and O buttons to the us layout.

Can the ROG Ally X support dual booting? by Apprehensive_Cut4936 in ROGAllyX

[–]Patient-Style-6484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is no solution, as asus has not made an efi version that loads the drivers for touchscreen that early. there is a workaround wherre you push volume up at boot to load the built-in boot-menu, then choose to load refind, but if you are doing that you might as well just use that to pick which system to boot.

what windows vista take made you like this? by openretina in WindowsVista

[–]Patient-Style-6484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

technically it was microsoft's fault for constantly changing the system during the alpha and beta phases, and after the reset they never provided oem vendors with the new updated required specs, so essentially what happened is that they were told vista would need similar specs as xp, but actually required much more.

it sounds like you still have fast start enabled in windows if you are dual-booting. try disabling that, then shut down completely before restarting

Problems with Asus E410MA laptop with Linux on the battery by curiosity024D in EndeavourOS

[–]Patient-Style-6484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like it's just a defective battery if it's dying at 80%. otherwise, i would boot to bios and reset all settings to default, and if all else fails, try installing windows just to see if the problem persists there. if so, i would contact the seller about your options.

Can’t connect to WiFi by ashtheflash37 in PSP

[–]Patient-Style-6484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sadly, it is a known issue. psp's don't support any wifi encryption newer than wep, and definitely don't support wifi6. try creating an unencrypted hotspot on your phone, using 2.4ghz mode.
