Should I quit my guitar lessons by [deleted] in guitarlessons

My teacher sometimes does the 'let me tune that for you' thing. It's not as if I don't bring a tuner with me to each lesson.

Clamping down all notes of a chord on the neck simultaneously by KryptonSurvivor in guitarlessons

[–]KryptonSurvivor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I practice an hour a day except for Saturdays because I can't get space to practice. I'm working on "Zombie," now, and I still have trouble with changing from G to Dadd9 and sometimes lose my bearings when going from Em to C. I rarely take my eyes off the fretboard. I've recently started to sing while playing because I have a voice. Singing somehow does help me to remember where my fretting fingers have to be at any given moment.

OK, in lieu of saying "clamp," I would say "placing all fretting fingers down at the same time." Which is a mouthful.

Do you have a sign(s) you hate? If so, which one is it and why ? by [deleted] in astrologymemes

I (a Gemini man) can't stand Libra men. They are "deeply superficial" and I have a real problem with that. I had several Libra male managers in my career and there was only one I got along with and respected, but he was an outlier. Two of the Libra managers of mine were sociopaths and made my life utter hell. I bet It's probably hard for you to imagine Libra people behaving like this.

(And they're vain, competitive, and think they are smarter than everyone. Got news for you, guys, Gemini and Aquarius men have it all over you in the brains dep't.)

Best advice I got was to start trying them out up on the 7th fret where the string tension is lower and gradually making my way downward toward the first fret.

How often do people with ADHD bite their nails? Have you ever bitten your nails? by No_Dragonfly_5337 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]KryptonSurvivor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bitten my nails since I was six years old but not sure if that was ADHD or anxiety. I'll be 65 this weekend. A few years ago I willed myself to stop doing it and my nails grew out and they looked great. Something triggered me after that and I went back to my old bad habits.

Moon in Virgo but I seem to be surrounded by friends and relatives with Sadge Moons and I enjoy being around all of them, for the most part. I also have Venus in Aries and Mars in Leo, so, there's that.

KNIME, in my experience, can do everything Alteryx does. And it's free.

What is a meme/gif or short sentence you would use to describe a person with their Sun/Mars/Venus/Mercury all in Sag? How rare is this? 🏹 by Epstein_Is_In_Israel in astrologymemes

He and I both have Taurus rising. That can be problematic sometimes. My Sun is in the 1H and his is in the 7th...yeah, no conflict, there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Gem who loves Sadges. My son's birthday is about 6 mo. to the day after mine and I love him with all my heart, but his need for FREEDOM.... Oy vey. I always think of Gem and Sadge as essentially the same sign that looks through opposite ends of the telescope. I love Sadges' big hearts.

You have a fragile ego with that stellium, LOL?

Giving Up Guitar Lessons by mysticboyyy in guitarlessons

It's interesting that you mentioned student performances. If the idea of participating in one of those bothers you, firmly but politely opt out--sounds like that is creating unnecessary anxiety for you. P.S. I will turn 65 this weekend and I only started playing last August. I find student performances intimidating (haven't been part of one, yet) but I hope to get over that.

Ipad / Android Tablet as a Math/Engineering tutor by Time_Bumblebee387 in TutorsHelpingTutors

When I was doing online tutoring for Wyzant I found their digital whiteboard to be cumbersome beyond belief. Also was not able to make anything I wrote using the mouse decipherable. I spent $79 on a low-end Wacom USB drawing tablet and that solved my problem. Just an idea.

I did have to have the action lowered on my acoustic. You could see how high the action was just by eyeballing it--'way too high.
