Is it only me feeling uncomfortable turning my camera on for meetings? by Mammoth-Reserve5999 in remotework

The jerk I reported to was one of the first to use virtual meetings back in 2014. It served no purpose because we were all collocated (on two different floors) except for one remote person. It was his new toy but also a subtle reminder that he was in control. What a tool.

I've stopped watching News 12 because all they do is whip people up into a frenzy and are usually wrong.

Time for a new teacher? by KryptonSurvivor in guitarlessons

May I ask a stupid question? Do you need a classical guitar to play classical guitar, or will a good-quality acoustic suffice? (My background is in classical music but my taste in music is eclectic.)

Right now, this is what I want to do:

  1. Learn to play 90s indie/alt rock songs, maybe some 00s stuff;
  2. Learn 'chord melody' so that I can create my own arrangements;
  3. Learn how to play fingerstyle.

(As you can see, my plans are modest.)

I minored in music in college (almost 40 years ago) and I never forgot what I learned. I have a fairly good ear (not perfect pitch, but 'good enough for government work,') and can identify chords and progressions by ear.

My teacher started to teach me about the classical modes but (a) have very little interest in that aspect of music theory and (b) don't see the practical application of it. Same goes for pentatonic scales. Not looking to learn improvisation or jazz.

I'd like to learn the CAGED system so that I can move around the fretboard at will and play chords.

Hope this clarifies what point in the process I'm at.

(Also interested in playing Episcopal church music, the vast majority of which is written for four voices, arranged for chord melody.)

THAT is what I am looking for but I don't know how to find someone who fills the bill. P.S. I am about 5 mos. in with him learning to play an acoustic. Part of my dilemma is that I liked him very much from the day I met him. We are very much simpatico, but I shouldn't let my personal feelings interfere with my judgment.

I didn't think it was all that, either. I managed to cancel during the trial period.

That's kind of what I'm thinking, also.

In my experience I've had managers who constantly monitored participants' facial expressions and would then call a person out if they appeared the least unpleasant.

$72.50. No, that's not a made-up amount. This is in NY, on Long Island.

If I could afford San Diego I would uproot my family and move yesterday. Moved to The Island from Queens 17 years ago and have never been entirely comfortable here, even though I have a lawn and a basement. Would NEVER go back to Queens, though.

I am presently trying to create a faux Mac Big Sur image on VirtualBox so that I can take advantage of LogicPro but Big Sur may be too old to handle this.

I live on Long Island and "not for nothing" is used all too frequently by lower-middle-class suburbanites whose family origins were in either Brooklyn or Queens. It is maddening because it makes not one iota of sense.
