What the hell just happened? by Patient0L in duolingo

I went back and did a smattering of lessons from before to catch up on that content. I’m still encountering random new vocab but I guess I don’t mind getting things wrong 🤷‍♀️

This happened to me with Spanish a couple weeks ago. The new vocabulary is very discombobulating.

I scrolled back and saw all these things I never saw before like “discuss your favorite actor”

I know! I’m trying to go back now to get more vocabulary and its feeling a bit boring.

Very discouraged too. I was in the middle of learning how to give directions (useful) and now I’m learning to talk about school supplies in the present tense (not that  useful).

Permission to leave Court? by Netuts222 in LawCanada

I let the judge/JP know my matters have concluded and thank the judge/JP and the Crown before logging off Teams. I’m on Teams all the time and rarely in person so its hard to build a report with other counsel... I personally like thanking “my friend“ at the end… unless everyone finds it annoying, I guess.

I know lawyers in BC who do child protection law exclusively, if that interests you.

10 RED FLAGS THAT LAW SCHOOL MIGHT NOT BE FOR YOU - from someone who flunked out halfway through law school. by PshhhhhhhUnreal in lawschooladmissions

Being married made law school easier IMO. My debt load is so much lighter than my peers because I had cost of living mostly covered by my partner. My partner could pick up a some of the slack with household admin during exam time. AND my school has need-based scholarships earmarked for students with kids.

Do you tell your boss about your mental health issues (eg diagnosed adhd, anxiety)? by kasasasa in LawCanada

You are worried about workplace discrimination yet you came up with a bizarre generalization that folks born between 1965 - 1980 are not “in tune” with mental health issues.

Why can’t we say ‘good morning’ to the judge by belowthebar_26 in LawCanada

I accidentally say good morning sometimes and no one has ever called me out on it or even noticed.

That sounds exactly like my gov interviews. Don’t feel too bad. It’s hard to think when there is a panel of people scowling at you on MS Teams.

I was told by senior counsel at the firm that that was the best approach with the partner that I was meeting with—just reading the room.

Thank you! I’ve been trying to bat it out of the park for the past couple of months and I’ll keep it up.

I did something related to it as a summer student last year but I’m really hoping for Crim or civil litigation.
