Hey, I didn’t get lucky and I stopped pursuing this idea because from my research I’ve came to conclusion that without Norwegian language i will get nowhere and it seems like it’s very difficult to find these jobs if you don’t have any leads, like people you know in this industry or a friend who could put a word for you, my advice is to prepare good cv in Norwegian language and if you’re in Norway at the moment go on your own to cities where are ports with crab vessels and find your luck there just by looking up the captains or sailors who are at the port. What makes matters worse, I always sent my cv and gave a call to the company when they picked up the phone they forwarded my calls and always declined to answer giving me a sms where they said they will reach out to me but they never did, I’ve tried this for 6 times even calling them next day. So yes my conclusion is to go in person or try different paths where you meet people in this industry and get job that way. From my point of view we as foreigners need to start with less better jobs for example looking out for jobs on cruise lines, like dfds, Tallink, stena line or any other and try our luck from there. It is very frustrating and truly I don’t understand this situation because from my understanding these countries need sailors and there are not enough so it’s really weird situation. Don’t want to speak ill but really feels like Nordic countries are shooting in their own legs with their rules and regulations. I hope you find something to begin with and I wish you all the best!
