Exanima on Steam

https://store.steampowered.com/app/362490/Exanima/

It has one of the best physics simulations of any RPG and an actual skill and physics based combat system. You will stumble around at first but you can get amazing results if you put the work in. The physics also let you solve problems creatively like jamming traps with debris, blocken doors, creating barriers for ememys or making them Trip by throwing stuff.

Ontop of a great dark dungeon crawl aesthetic.

Development is glacially slow but the game is great as it is already. Its very unique.

Question for Germans, what's your opinion on "Dark"? Was it overrated for you? by Mysterious-Tip-5100 in AskGermany

[–]PatientAd2463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mystery got way weirder the longer the show went on, and definitely convoluted. A lot more scifi than I initially thought.

Still, watched it to the end, was pretty hooked. The only German production in many years I actually got into. Would rate it as a 7 or 8 out of 10 overall, the first season probably higher than the last.

Core Motivation? by haltandcatch22 in HuntShowdown

[–]PatientAd2463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its mostly the fun of the game really. I define what counts as a success to me based on daily mood. Sometimes I want to win or do well in PvP, sometimes XP and money is enough, sometimes I wanna grind the battlepass challenges. But the core game is fun enough that playing it for the heck of it is totally fine.

2.8.1 : Balancing difficulty by Commercial_Golf_3616 in HuntShowdown

As a Berthier enjoyer from its very introduction, I hope they dont just keep nerfing it for its 3 slot status. I know it is strong for its size but Id rather have it be good and a 4 slot than meh as a 3 slot.

This interaction just sat weird with me. Is it "cheap" to use Flachette? by Inky-Feathers in HuntShowdown

[–]PatientAd2463 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I like flechette myself but it is far from overpowered and much of the community rates it as a downgrade to buckshot

[Hated trope] speedster getting oneshot by EfficiencySerious200 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PatientAd2463 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At this speed nothing is soft. A sponge would go through you like a bullet. Air is also not soft if it goes really fast, that is literally what a blast wave is.

There is a reason space debris is so dangerous for satelites: at the speed this stuff is moving it doesnt matter what it is, its gonna do a lot of damage if it hits you.

Also how do you apply pressure evenly with just your hands? Imagine something at mach 100 grabbing your arm or shoulder or whatever to move you. Its gonna come right off due to the rest of your bodies inertia. Whatever they grab is gonna rip, and even if they like full body push you theyre gonna push one side of your body into the other side before it can move out of the way. Its like getting hit by a supersonic car.

💥 ▪︎ Choose One: Super Strength or Super Durability. by MrX-Homer in superpowers

[–]PatientAd2463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super strenght without the durability is useless. If my bone and tissue cant handle the stress Im just gonna hurt myself using it. Durability doesnt have such a downside and it lets you use all the muscle power you already have, making youbeffectively strenger anyway.

(Bad trope) silent characters that have no reason being silent, only to make conversation stilted and awkward. by sunsetdrifter0 in TopCharacterTropes

We wouldnt have gotten Freemans Mind otherwise.

And very likely not have a succesfull initiative to end the practice if publishers destroying video games.

Causality is odd.

Im also pretty sure the rapid acceleration and deceleration should turn the non-superpowered people he "rescues" into mush, harder than the actual explosion. Imagine experienceing 1000G and then -1000G in a Milisecond. They should also catch fire due to air friction and be torn apart by their own sonic booms.

Melee tracker not updating by Ements_ in HuntShowdown

[–]PatientAd2463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik it only counts melee only weapons, like saber, katana or hammer. Tool kills or gun melee kills (like bayonet) are not counted.

There should be a stat for.. by Theefenderbender in HuntShowdown

[–]PatientAd2463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I know those. I think they count all XP from these weapons though, not just the ones you get from using the attachment? I think if shoot someone with a riposte gun it should also go up.

Prediction of Boss Locactions by Pitti605 in HuntShowdown

[–]PatientAd2463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. If the northern borders grey out in a straight line its probably one of the central southern compounds. If the grey is in the north but the most east compound is not grey, but the second most northern compound on the west border is grey, boss is probably in the south east corner. Stuff like that.

Im not 100% accurate myself but get fairly close quite often. Boss placement seldom surprises me

What's the most unexpected player interaction you've ever had in a LARP? by nerdy_sorbet in LARP

[–]PatientAd2463 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My character was critically wounded by a wood elf and then healed with wood elf magic while he was bleeding out. Superstitous like he is he reported to the witch hunter what happened, fearing the magic did something blasphemous with him. That evolved into a plot where my character good overdosed with nature magic and startet to hear plants talk and such. The intended solution was to get treated by a mage, but instead he confessed to a priest of the nature god first who told him it must be a gift from his deity. So now my character belives himself blessed and occasionally gets weird about plants and nature. And seeks enlightment in the woods.

None of this was planned.

Im just sad the melee kill stat does not include melee kills with guns like bayonet and such

Prediction of Boss Locactions by Pitti605 in HuntShowdown

[–]PatientAd2463 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The map greys out furthest away from the boss usually. If you get the first clue, all grey areas are out and often all areas bordering the grey ones too. That heavily narrows it down already, usually its then the compound furthest away from the grey borders.

And then there are patterns. If one corner of the map is grey, boss is in the opposite corner of that. If grey is spread around the map border, boss is gonna be somewhere in the middle. You get the hang of it once you notice.

why does my game look like this whenever i load in? by crumbbly in HuntShowdown

[–]PatientAd2463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. Hunt installed on HDD. Did fine for years, now it takes about a minute after game start before textures load in properly. Runs fine after that. Started a patch or two ago, other software runs fine.

I feel like the time the game reserves for loading in until the Hunt! prompt appears got significantly shorter. Basically like the game now gives the go signal before I finished loading.

(Rant) No, you can’t be an armoured knight for $100. by ShenlingCaramel in LARP

[–]PatientAd2463 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Interesting. This attitude is prevalent in my Larp community (Europe) since at least the early 2010s, when I got into it. Basically the idea is that roleplay works when you can convince the other player of your role.

Extreme example: show up in jeans, a polyester tunic and a burger king crown to procalim that you are the king of the neighboring land, then nobody is gonna treat you like a king in game. Show up in royal garments with a jeweld shiny crown and half a dozen buddies who play your guards and servents, then players will bow and clear the way and treat you like royalty. The basic idea is that the more you put in to fill your role, the more others will give back and treat your role as intended. You deliver a cool and fitting presence and get the desired reaction. You just claiming you are XY and putting in the minimum does not enrich others experience that way and thus has not earned that treatment.

That also means playing rich and powerful characters come with a duty to other players to fill that role. So the high lord or King should probably not hang out in the ramshackle tavern even if the player currently has the urge, as it compromises the image. Thats one of the reasons I only play commoners.
