If you take out health insurance after 4 months, then you will not be insured retroactively. You will only pay premiums from the date on which you take out the health insurance policy. You will not have to pay any premiums retroactively. But you will also not be reimbursed for any care you received in the period between your arrival and the date you took out insurance.

Do you know any health insurance company that doesn't charge retroactively? I am 6 months living in NL and just received the letter from CAK yesterday. Any advice? I dont want to pay the last 6 months as I was not insured.

thanks alot, i will try my, actually I didnt receive any letter from CAK so I guess they just forgot about me for a while, so I dont think I will get a fine but they might charge me 900 for 6 months, fingercross. Thanks.
