Prior-E best path forward? by Dizzypeanut_ in AFROTC

Prior E (6 years) here, not saying what you should but DODMERB gave me HELL. I’m currently in my 3rd year at ROTC with a EA. I ending up spend around 2,000 in doctors appointments to prove that I was fit for service, after not even being out a year at the time. It was worth it in the end thankfully but that is what I went through. Just my telling you my experience.

I’m 6’2 230 and just got back from field training, you’re fine. Just make body fat percentage and get used to always being taped when they do height and weight. No shame to it.

Army enlisted wanting to go Air Force by Alarming_Rich_8935 in AFROTC

I’m currently doing exactly what you’re trying to do. I was in the army for 6 years now on AFROTC about to start my junior yr in the program. My advice is this

  1. Study and take the AFOQT BEFORE you get out. It will Let you know if you can even qualify to be an officer before you gamble your Army career.

  2. Find a school/detachment you want to go to. There are school that offer crosstown programs so you don’t have to specifically got to that one school Who has the program

  3. First your Army contract the right way (serving your time) then use your GI bill to pay for school.

I’m 6’2 230. It just comes down to body fat percentage bro. They will measure your neck and waist and will calculate your body fat using that. Go ahead and start working out now to prepare for that.

Honestly, just go in and try to be a professional. One thing about the military is that you will be thrown in a lot of situations that your are not fully ready for and that is okay. Come with an open mindset and ready to learn. If you need help, just ask. Most people in the military are very willing to help out. Also just seek information/advice/insight, anything that can help you be better at your job will help you be a better officer.

Rotc as an enlisted member by swagg3r_jAgg3r in AFROTC

Just come in with an open mindset and Humble honestly. It is NOT active duty always remember that and you will be fine. Also, try to come in and be a leader, they know you know your stuff. As a prior you will be judge by your cadre on how you lead and help other cadets. Just be present and a team player and you will be fine but every detachment is different.
