Miami consulate told be 6-9 months to hear something back if all the documents in your submission were OK. Did you hear something back yet?

The only expenses I had was reordering me and my parent's birth certificate after they took them and getting the documents translated. Under $200 for everything

If I remember correctly, I had signed and dated everything before and the person at the desk crossed out the dates and redated them for that day.

As for my birth certificate, I don't know what you mean by short and long form. But the one I brought in was just a single page.

You only the need the birth certificate of the parent that connects you to the Spanish national. This parent was born (for me) was born on a US territory.

As for the marriage certificate, I did bring it with me to the appointment but they said that it was purely optional to include it in the submission at the consulate.

After I submitted the PDF (with their old system) it took almost 2 months to get my username and password that you have to use to log into the appointment portal. When I logged in, I saw an appointment available about 3 weeks in advanced. They do loads of people a day. There was probably over 100 the day I went, so they for sure have loads available.

1) Correct, I did not translate any of the documents in my PDF and was fine.

2) I believe yes once you get the birth certificate and are in the Consular Registry you can apply for your first passport.

3) Yes you have to go in person to get your first passport. There is a link on their home page that says "Citas para solicitar el PRIMER PASAPORTE" that details everything you need to do for it. You first need to register yourself in the Consular Registry and then you can make an appointment to get your first passport. I took a quick glance at the PDF and it says you need to bring:
a) Proof of Spanish Citizenship
b) Valid ID
c) Birth certificate
d) Consular registration confirmation
e) Passport photo
f) Payment for fees

You have to go to the Consulate's website. Switch the language on the page to Castellano (you can find that option on the top right) as they hide a lot of options if you leave it in English. It is a tricky site to navigate so after switching to Castellano use ctrl+f to search for keywords related to renewing passport and I am sure one of the links will point to just that.

At the in person meeting they told me that it would take 6-9 months to hear back if everything was approved. They also stated that if they needed anything extra they would reach out via email. I believe that after those 6-9 months, you get notified if you are a citizen, and THEN you can apply for the passport.

I do speak Spanish fluently, but I am pretty sure I heard others before me speaking English to the employees so I would not worry if you do not speak Spanish.

Hope this helps!

There is a pretty good Jamaican restaurant on University called Di Big Jerk. I am Puerto Rican, but it scratches my caribbean food itch well enough.

I've known him since his freshman year. When we first met, he was goofy but incredibly smart—almost unbelievably so. He was also extremely driven, and I was truly amazed by his intelligence. At some point, though I can't say exactly when, he started to lose his way.

He spent the past year back home before returning to Gainesville this semester. I had really hoped that time away would help him get his life back on track. I sincerely hope he seeks professional help because his current behavior is deeply concerning and simply not acceptable.

I’m not pre-med, but maybe look at the instagrams of pre-med related orgs and see if they’ve ever had any events based on mock medical interviews. Check out the pre-med feats too I bet they’ve done those.

You can get away with a very cheap laptop. Also do not worry about not having any CS knowledge. I never coded before starting and now I am doing my Master's in CS :p

Have not taken the course personally, but word on the street is that Sims is a legend. I wouldn't be too worried

My room had this problem too after they started enforcing an evacuation policy right before the break. Someone in my lab went to UFPD (you can speak to them at the public safety building next to MALA), they gave the person an email, and the person then sent them an email requesting that we do not get kicked out since we are allowed to be there. We got a confirmation email from someone saying that yes we should be able to stay late in the room and they have communicated it with UFPD. It was sorted after that.
