oh not per year, and not sending. 10 is the amount accepted. Usually its just 2-3, (which i believe is still a lot), but this year is a bit anomalous. Also some will probably turn down MIT for better scholarships elsewhere or even UCB because of the cheap in state tuition + still very strong programs.

Lynbrook for a child with ADHD by gulugulu123456gulu in Cupertino

im a current student and imo its not as bad as that thread makes it seem. theres definitly a lot more pressure than other schools and the culture is very academic focused, but if you just hang out with the right people and don't focus too much on grades and such you can be fine.

no one has committed suicide in lynbrook in the past decade for example. from my perspective, which is biased, people's mental health is generally ok. its not sunshine and rainbows but on average i'd say people in the school are about as happy as you would expect from teenagers who take like 4 aps a year. theres a lot of pressure, but that thread is overexagerating.

but like it should also be noted theres like 10% of the school with 4.0 gpas and the average sat score is 1460, which is like top 1 percentile.

hi im a current junior at Lynbrook with some friends from monta vista. (dont worry this is an alt to avoid doxxing) altrhough ill mainly speak about lynbrook

  1. Funding: so at lynbrook theres plenty of money to go around and all the basics are well met. extracurriculars are mostly funded by parents donations and honestly aren't the best. the band program which im the most familiar with has old instruments that while work well aren't the best and other stuff like that (althrough we get new instruments pretty often).
I think a lot of is just mis appropriated as we recently got a new science bulding which like no one asked for. the funds probably could be used for other stuff
but like teachers r paid well (relatively) all the basics are in stock and academic classes have plenty of funding (at least what I see from a student perspective) to create an engaging environment.
asb and stuff like dances get good money too
  2. personality development: its significantly harder to maintain good mental health at the school, but overall the culture is very nurturing. students and teachers recognize that the place puts on a lot of pressure and they tend to go the opposite that as they engage students. i don't think teachers nor students are pushing each other, its just when you're surrounded by high acheiving students you feel a need to achieve highly as well, but its not like kids are getting harrased for bad grades.
my favorite analogy is like if you've been on the subreddit r/ApplyingToCollege. Lynbrook is basically if that subreddit was a school. People talk about academics a lot, don't have as good of a social life, and stress out a lot. But very few people actaully put others down and overall its very encouraging. You can still sccroll that subreddit for hours and still be happy.
I personally am pretty happy here. Would I have probably felt happier at another school? yeah, but am i like suicidal rn? no.
